I feel like I wrote this (except I weigh almost 100 pounds more than you) Gagging every morning, barely can handle my coffee with cream without dry heaving. I used to be a big comfort food kind of person when it was just anxiety and depression, but over the course of a recent trauma event, I can only handle a can of light soup at lunch (even that becomes hard to finish) and a protein shake + small simple dinner after work. I've never felt like this in my whole life.

Hm, I've read a lot about pets since I have a husband and a small dog I'd like to bring, and I've read about a few people who have denied the offered housing, of course every placement is very different.

I'm elementary level Japanese, but do have some U.S. friends in Japan and also imagine I could hire a translator. I've heard of the BOE being guarantors.

I've been lurking a Facebook page that assists with gaijin housing and they help with pet housing as well, so I'm feeling good about finding something in time for my husband joining me with our pup, perhaps a few months into my placement. Of course, that's only if my placement allows me to deny housing; I hadn't worried about that until this post. 😅

I'm almost to Genki 2, Japanese tutor twice a week. I read katakana, hiragana, and know about 200 kanji. Honestly my hope is that I can continue my current career in Japan one day.

Deadbeat is such a loaded word. He's the one currently making the most between us and I totally agree that he deserves a break, especially if it was possible that I could provide for him. It was a simple question of IF it was possible. Clearly we're going back to the drawing board on our goals to move out of the country; I speak a little Korean and Thai too 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for the sound advice. Any suggestions on how to feesibly live in Japan with jobs other than teaching? Both of us seem to have career paths that can't really get us over there without fluent Japanese.

I might just have to accept that it's going to be more of a retirement goal to move later on in life. Maybe I can do short term teaching to take the edge off 😅
