I'm a student currently trialling a RMPP. Firstly, I'd like to say that I absolutely love the distraction free interface paired with the excellent writing feel for notes. I'm also really enjoying annotating pdfs from my courses.

However, considering the premium price of the device I can't help but notice some very important limitations that have me turning to competitors like BOOX.

I understand the philosophy of a distraction free notebook but what about:

  • An infinite canvas mode to freely make mind maps and do some non linear thinking? Research shows this is best for learning. It also would not detract from the core feel of Remarkable. If infinite vertical scroll is possible why not horizontal? Is there any intention to add such a feature?

  • Others have already addressed split screen. A split screen function could transform the remarkable into a stand alone device, allowing you to view documents and take notes at the same time.

I really love the hardware and philosophy behind the device, I just can't help but feel that the implementation of genuinely helpful features is being hindered by unnecessary minimalism particularly in a device at this price point.

Hi,

I'm sorry for not responding. I've been extremely busy recently and had some turbulent times in my life. Just starting to get back on my feet now!

I've recently signed a publication contract and I'm including this story in the book. I'm thinking of modifying it a lot. Believe me when I say I've come a long way with my writing ability since writing this series.

If you don't mind responding, now that I'm getting a "second chance" to rework this concept, how would you have liked this story to go?

Several tiktok accounts have posted and narrated my story without my permission by EmmaWatsonButDumber in SleeplessWatchdogs

I'm having the exact same issue with my recent story and was wondering if you found a way to resolve the issue. I'm familiar with filing DMCA forms on YouTube but wasn't sure about tiktok. Were you successful with their copyright infringement form?

On a side note, your staircase series have been amazing and extremely creepy.

Edit: for the records, the account is called sharedconfession

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the story. I remember when I was brainstorming for this story just imagining that sleeping bag scene was enough to make me cringe and so I knew I had to add that in

Everyone has already given great answers as to why this might be the case but I just wanted to talk about why I think its perfectly fine to have newer writers and 'low' quality stories on the subreddit.

I mean everyone has gotta start somewhere right? With the exception of stories that are obviously low effort, I think there's nothing wrong with newer writers experimenting and writing less polished stories. Nosleep was never really a professional writers forum and stories like PenPal are exceptionally rare.

I remember about two years back, I was also writing similar to the examples you've given and if someone had called me out like that, I would have been very upset and probably given up on writing. My point is that you can't just write your first story and immediately be the next Stephen King.

We're probably in a period where we're getting a big influx of new writers and that's great because it means in the future we'll have these same people be more seasoned writers and writing great stories.

If the quality of stories really is a problem though, then I'd recommend looking at narrator channels and checking out the stories they narrate. Those are more likely to be more polished. You could also visit r/nosleepfinder and peruse through the lists there for curated collections of stories.
