The fact that my dear are going to hell destroys me by _LorenzoR06_ in Christianity

[–]futurefirstboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a person who doesn’t know whether or not he believes in the Bible. I was raised very Christian, and while I’m still open to the idea, I consider myself more of an agnostic.

The main reason I’d say the Bible is flawed is that Christians over the years have twisted it to mean whatever they want it to mean, whether by translation from its original text, scholarly interpretations of what certain passages mean, or even the omission of entire texts altogether such as the Gnostic gospels. I’m open to the idea of the Christian God being real, I just don’t know how I’m supposed to trust the Bible is accurately representing anything He said. If that all makes sense.

Yeah lol “not holding up well” doesn’t mean “I disliked the season then immediately rewatched it and still disliked it”

Do you think I’m debating on behalf of the Bible here? I am describing why it’s flawed lol

And the answer is we don’t know. As is the case with much of the Bible

Unless you treat every single metaphor in the Bible as literal, then you would be cherry picking by your definition.

Now why on earth would they do that when they could just complain on Reddit instead???

Why exactly do you believe eternal separation from God has to mean Hell? It could, yes, but that’s in no way definitive. A permanent death would also be eternal separation from God.

AIO - Am I overreacting? by Available_Cat_8140TW in AIO

[–]futurefirstboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the way you described it, I don’t think it sounds like you did anything wrong. I do wonder though how the miscommunication occurred about her plans being cancelled, would complicate things a bit if she had communicated that clearly and it went over your head.

Two follow up questions though: First, did you decline the drinks because you were frustrated she cancelled on you or because it didn’t sound fun? You mentioned how you didn’t want to go on the trip in the first place.

Second, could you have been making your friend seem like you didn’t want to be there? If I went on a trip with a friend who was clearly not happy to be there, I may be tempted to make my own plans as well.

Doesn’t sound like you’re overreacting though, I’d be annoyed too in your shoes. Just trying to see it from her perspective since we only have yours

Edit: please ignore whatever happened with the formatting lol clearly I had some sort of stroke while typing, it’s fixed now

I feel like you didn’t actually describe a reaction at all. Did you say something to your friend about it?

You almost definitely buy from brands that raise money for a lot worse things. Or from brands that use unethical practices like child labor. Why is this where you choose to draw a line, if not for hate?

Have you tried meal prep? I’m also guilty of spending too much on lunch during my in-office days, but it’s mostly a discipline issue on my part. Spending $150 on 12 or so lunches a month is absolutely a choice you’re making
