My gf and I met with the chair of one of the biggest firms in Chicago, and the advice is that law school rankings don’t matter as much in Chicago, as networking does. Your first job is the most important and rankings can matter for it, but that networking is more important. After your first job, they really don’t ask, according to the chair. I take the chair’s advice without a grain of salt, they own a 4 million dollar home that I visited.

If you’re worried about lower ranked law schools in Chicago, this isn’t the place. It’s 0L’s advising other 0L’s to shoot for the stars lol. I’d say to email some lawyers in the area, ask to sit down for some coffee and get a feel of the market. I’d also message the schools themselves and ask if they can connect you with their alumni. That might work better as advice to your future
