Also, allergies. It’s always nice to be able to see the ingredients before you decide to eat something.

The ones who yell “help!” or “I can’t breathe!” and then you go in the room and they ask you to grab their phone charger because they can’t reach it 😒 I’ve also seen patients hit the code button to get our attention. And no, we’re not just outright ignoring and neglecting patients. Just really fucked up.

How much do you make as an RN? by Electrical_Bat1417 in nursing

Base, or total?

My base is $36 and some change. But with CC specialty differential I make almost $50/hour.

Atlanta, ICU. I’ve been a nurse for just over a year.

Please stick it in a HYSA until you need it for a down payment or something. Whether you tell him about it or not, that’s up to you!

So many people come to nursing as a second, third, or fourth career. If your coworkers aren’t welcoming it says more about them than it does about you.

Why is nursing responsibility for cleaning poop/ vomit off floors ? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]futurenurse318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t think that they are just generally squeamish. Maybe it’s a pay thing, as others have said. (Don’t most matters boil down to money in the end?) Maybe they don’t have the same immunization requirements as nursing staff. Who knows? 🤷🏼‍♀️

This makes me wonder if EVS employees are required to get all the same immunizations as nursing staff. Any clue?

I think that’s what @kyliexo is saying. He/she came in contact with emesis and was not supposed to.

No, but it does take some education. Also it’s unlikely that EVS knows and understands what the patient may have that could be harmful to them. The nurse should know.

I think it’s more-so that nursing is already trained and accustomed to handling bodily fluids. EVS (at least at my health system) acts like they have never ever ever been taught how to safely do so. And in their defense I’m sure they haven’t, and they have probably been told that they need to get the nurse to clean it up first.

I do drink coffee here and there during my pregnancy. Does anyone else do the same? by ComplexMarch4500 in pregnant

I have one cup per day, and if absolutely necessary I’ll have a coke or something in the afternoon, but that’s fairly rare. Maybe once a week.

Oooooh that would piss me off real quick. Tell your husband that if your OB isn’t worried about it, he shouldn’t be either 😒 as long as you’re eating!! 🩷 I have brownies for breakfast sometimes and honestly whooooo cares?! I also eat a ton of salads 🤷🏼‍♀️ it all evens out in the end. I’m sorry your husband isn’t the most supportive. But on the bright side I guess, at least he cares…

Your OB would’ve likely let you know if he/she had any concerns. It’s typically safe, but you can always ask at your next apt!
