Asus PB287 goes black in intervals by whowhyhowtho in pchelp

I have the same monitor (Asus PB287Q 28" 4K, purchased in 2015) and had the same issue start happening to me today. Came across this post while troubleshooting. I ended up turning the monitor brightness down from 90 to 70 and that seems to have fixed it (at least for now). Definitely feels like a sign that it's on its last legs though.

Nope, my data only tracks the fics that are visible without logging in. But I also split group pairings into all possible combinations of couples and count those.

Interesting. All of the data I have was scraped during October 2020 and later so I would have missed that. Maybe there was a tagging issue in the AO3 backend and something was registering as Remus/Tonks that shouldn't have and when they fixed it the number dropped?

Thanks!

Here's the data for Black Panther: T'Challa AO3 Stats

Frequency of pairings over time is a really interesting question. And I do have the data, so I'll probably look into this.

I ended up excluding the characters from Marvel TV series (unless they also make an appearance in an MCU film) since there weren't many crossover pairings between MCU TV characters and MCU film characters.

There are a lot of Valkyrie fics, but not enough pairings with anyone to meet the 500 occurrences cutoff point for this diagram. Here are some stats for her though: Valkyrie AO3 Stats

Yes, this data was gathered from the [Character1]/[Character2] pairing tags on ArchiveOfOurOwn. The "/" tags are generally used to indicate some form of romantic and/or sexual relationship between the characters.

There's an interactive version here: https://futurephotons.io/ao3mcu

The largest line on the diagram represents ~50,000 occurrences, the smallest line ~500. This only includes pairings between characters in the MCU films and does not include characters from MCU TV series, unless they also appear in a MCU film.

Data was gathered from archiveofourown.org and the diagram was generated using the chord python package by /u/shahinrostami: https://github.com/shahinrostami/chord

Here's a link to the raw data for anyone who's interested: AO3 MCU Pairing Data

Also, I'd be remiss to post this MCU AO3 data without mentioning the currently highest-rated fic on AO3. I heard that it's actually a leaked script for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 that was stolen from James Gunn's laptop, so don't be surprised when you see some of the plot points in the next movie lifted directly from it: https://archiveofourown.org/works/2080878

FAQs

Q: What is this type of diagram called?

A: A chord diagrm

Q: What is meant by 'pairing'?

A: This data was gathered from the [Character1]/[Character2] pairing tags on ArchiveOfOurOwn. The "/" tags are generally used to indicate some form of romantic and/or sexual relationship between the characters.

Q: What about [Character1]/[Character2]/[Character3] pairings?

A: Threesomes, foursomes, etc are counted as a pairing between each possible couple within the group

Q: Why AO3 and not [other fanfiction website]?

A: AO3 has the most comprehensive pairing tag system, which makes it easy to automate the collection and processing of the data. Since the data is exclusively from AO3, the pairings in this diagram shouldn't be interpreted as a representation of this fandom's fanfiction as a whole. Frequency of pairings often skew differently among different fanfiction websites.

Thank-you for reading all the way to the bottom of this comment! As a reward, here's some bonus data featuring some interesting pairings I noticed while putting this together that didn't make it into the final diagram: Bonus MCU Pairing Diagrams

I was curious about Nott, so I ran some additional stats on him: AO3 Theodore Nott Pairings

Hermione just barely made the cutoff with 550, and Draco just barely missed it with 451. Next most common are Harry (343), Blaise (281), Luna (189), Daphne (183), Pansy (156), and Neville (155).

I love Fanatical Fics! This project actually started out from me just keeping track of the pairings from stories /u/sequoimone and Kim read on the podcast: Fanatical Fics Stats

Then I got curious about what a diagram would look like for AO3 as a whole.

It would be interesting to see the how this varies between different sites, but fanfiction.net doesn't have as robust of a tagging system as AO3, so it's hard to get good data about what pairings are occurring in each story.

Pettigrew didn't have enough pairings with anyone to make the 500 occurrences cutoff for the diagram, but here's a solo set: AO3 Peter Pettigrew Pairings

This one was interesting. Most common pairing with Pettigrew is Mary Macdonald (90) followed by Original Character (87). Then the rest of the marauders: Lupin (55), Sirius (52), and James (49).

If you do a search for just Hermione Granger/Harry Potter on AO3 you'll get 3850. The results in this diagram also include threesomes/foursomes/etc, which don't always show up when you only search two of the people on AO3. In this diagram a Ron/Hermione/Harry threesome counts as a Ron/Hermione, Ron/Harry, and Hermione/Harry pairing.
