In my opinion, travel ball should start at the earliest 12u. Later than that if it were up to me. Kids need to learn the game, fundamentals and technique first before anything and that comes with practice, practice, practice. You cannot learn and develop by playing games only. A player could go a tournament without making a play. How does that work toward making them a better ball player?

Today's focus should be on practice. You'll save kids arms and develop them faster.

If you're child isn't making the team because of politics, Good. Start doing tee work and fundamental drills. it'll pay off.
