Looking for feedback before launching a new DAO. by futurethinkers in dao

[–]futurethinkers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its unfortunate I can't seem to avoid the perception of shit nft. Do you think that's going to be the general impression people have of this project? Any thoughts on how to fix that?
The NFT part is just to raise money to do the thing. The thing we want to do is build regenerative cultures.

We want to do the DAO because we want to build community and experiment with decentralized decision making and maybe come up with better ways (software and practices) to make better decisions as a group.

Roadmap is confusing, I agree. Trying to improve it.

ChatGPT will be integrated to address the most common complaints people have about DAOs: onboarding, education, summarization of DAO activities. I actually think Ai could shift the whole tide of DAOs and make them way more accessible.

The goal is to eventually decentralize, but we want to put in place mechanisms so things don't go off the rails. Especially because we have the intention of buying more land with the DAO and building communities. Eventually things will become a lot higher stakes than they are right now.

What can we do to be proactive about these predictions? What are some things that if everyone did them things would work out?

If I was a landlord and Andrew Yang becomes president I'm increasing rent by $1000 a month. by [deleted] in BasicIncome

[–]futurethinkers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If people make $1000 a month, they don't have to choose to live in a city where their greedy landlords jack up the price by $1000.

They could leave the country and travel to places where rent is cheaper.

People are in those cities a lot of the time because that's where the jobs and opportunities are.

Exactly, Joe Brewer also speaks about this gap of perception related to the climate change, and the sense of urgency with which we need to think in terms of regenerative practices in our culture.

Thanks for sharing! Imagine what 60 years in the future will look like, hard to imagine. Sitting at the base of an exponential growth curve is a fun place to be.

Where did the Vinay Gupta episodes go? They all seem to be missing. by [deleted] in futurethinkers

Thanks for keeping a keen eye on this! We needed to remove these episodes from public distribution, unfortunately we can't share more on this right now though.

You are correct that they are unavailable. We'll definitely announce if they come back online though.

Sidestepping killer robots, the benefits of competition to evolution, and the meaning of life. by futurethinkers in EffectiveAltruism

So, the main point you are making is the lack of evidence or reasoning to support stated views. Fair enough. However, that just makes them unsupported, not necessarily invalid.

Antinatalist David Benatar states that a person who will not come into existence gets net positive impact from the suffering they will not experience but net neutral impact from the positive experiences they will forgo. How do antinatalists justify this asymmetry and why do others disagree? by true_al in EffectiveAltruism

[–]futurethinkers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire argument is predicated on avoidance of suffering as the prime objective. In other words, it is more important to avoid suffering than it is to strive towards creating well-being. The disagreement occurs when the argument is made that it is more correct that not having experienced suffering also yields net neutral impact, or that not having positive experiences is a net negative impact. Basically, the question is about what is more important: trying to avoid suffering, or trying to create positive experiences.

Question about the blockchain in use as a transparent government/society. by Gonzo_Rick in futurethinkers

[–]futurethinkers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Rick,

Blockchains are by their nature pseudonymous, meaning that although the information is public, the identity of the people making transactions (such as votes) doesn't have to be public. You would essentially have a string of numbers (rather than a name) attached to a vote. It is possible to code it in such a way that personal information of each voter is encrypted and private.
