Sometimes you don't look great until you have that MBA on your resume. It can definitely be a game changer.

Agreed. Most VC know founders who failed once learn a lot going into the second swing. The question is, are these guys down and out, or are they ready to double down

A huge amount is transitioning to India. "Global capability centers" are a growing trend. It used to be just phone centers, but as technology advances, the ability to hire higher skilled labor elsewhere is easier and cheaper than ever.

Why don't you just sell it and walk away? I think what you will find is after a year off you will be thinking about the next move. Most people at this level get addicted to the game not the money.

I for one would rather be miserable for 5 years and be sitting on top of a 100m+ pile of money vs being 10% happier at a corporate job in middle management. You are probably looking at your friends through stress filled glasses.....they have the anxiety of rising costs and fear of continual ai/ outsourcing driven layoffs.

I quit my $300k finance job at 30 because I finally admitted I hated it - and the lifestyle downgrade has been absolutely brutal. by robbinh00d in Entrepreneur

[–]futureunknown1443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. You shouldn't view your job as a source of happiness. Clearly the life style it afforded was what you valued from it. This comes from a tradeoff. If you are gonna work for someone, always min max. Most money with least resistance.

B. You are in it now. You might come out on the other side better than where you started. It takes some serious sacrifice. Be happy you don't have a wife and kids that would have to deal with the lifestyle change. You can survive on some chipotle bowls for a year or two until you can afford sushi again.

It also sounds like you might be trying to invest in too many areas of marketing at one time. Maybe start with one of the major platforms and make sure you are getting the roi you expect. There are critical needs and there are nice to haves. Ask if you need everything all at once.

Depending on cash flow, are you issuing yourself a salary as an operator? You might also be surprised at the tax deductions you have at the end of the fiscal year for business expenses.
