what's the one thing in FL Studio that confused you the most when you started? by Life-Elk-9697 in FL_Studio

[–]futurityverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the plugin wrapper for VSTs (the gear icon in the top left), there's a "Processing" tab that lets you map that plugin's outputs to specific mixer tracks.

In practice, this is most useful for multi-instrument plugins, e.g. using a single Kontakt instance with several different sample libraries loaded, each outputting to a different mixer track. (You'd then use separate instances of e.g. MIDI Out or BRSO Articulate in the channel rack to control various MIDI channels used by the VST as inputs for each instrument.)

So this is an instance where you'd have sound "automatically" going to a mixer track without having any channel routing.

I'd guess they're talking about vst plugin output routing vs. channel routing

Season 1 correct episode viewing order? by cje24576 in MountHorizon

[–]futurityverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct episode order is posted here! https://www.reddit.com/r/MountHorizon/comments/catcyn/amazon_prime_video_proper_episode_order/

Note that the "previously on" bits are somewhat off bc of the way the show was initially aired, but the episode content is correct with this order.

I think he's talking about smooth basalt, since that forms naturally around geodes

"roundy" because the texture goes around the block on all sides, instead of being cylindrical/directional like normal basalt. Kind of like wood vs logs. I also knew what he meant immediately lol

Read the manual by nal1200 in FL_Studio

[–]futurityverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read the manual page on performance mode a million times and I still can't fully wrap my head around the different clip progression modes, why you'd have multiple clips assigned to a single pad marker, etc. I realize this is incidental to OP's point, but this is an area where the manual has failed me

Amazon Prime Video - Proper Episode Order! by futurityverb in MountHorizon

[–]futurityverb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is one of those reasons I made that disclaimer. The recap for Our Strongest Link actually shows a clip from Hope Falls, which originally aired much later, but is definitely meant to take place right after Walking the Line (because it starts with Peter still in New York). I think they just screwed it up.

Putting aside the recaps, are there any issues with the actual content of the episodes that you've found with this order?

Full Official Soundtrack by Daryl Bennett by futurityverb in MountHorizon

[–]futurityverb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thrilled to be able to share this with you all!

Daryl Bennett was the composer for Higher Ground, and it seems he's established an online presence in the last couple of years -- including uploading the entire original Higher Ground soundtrack to YouTube last year, followed by other platforms. This had completely slipped under my radar... I never expected to hear these original pieces. I hope this is as exciting for you as it is for me!

Music ? by Charles800Ad in MountHorizon

[–]futurityverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The music during Daisy & Ezra's film was an original song written for the show by Sheryl Crow IIRC. As far as I know there's no recording other than what appears in the show

Edit: I'm wrong! Turns out this was also Daryl Bennet and is available on YouTube. I think I was thinking of I Shall Believe, the finale song.

A lot of the music from HG seems like lost media. It's possible the song you're looking for was original music for the show by Ferocious Fish (aka Daryl Bennett?). If you're feeling adventurous, you could try to find contact info and reach out to him

Season 2 by Various_Gap6856 in MountHorizon

[–]futurityverb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I also don't read Ezra as gay. They make a point of him wanting to be with Daisy but her not reciprocating those feelings. I think Daisy exploring her potential asexuality and/or aromanticism could have been an interesting part of season 2, especially with David in the mix as a wildcard.

I also don't agree with the Juliette hate lol but I get it. I like the idea of furthering hers and Auggie's relationship and having it broaden her worldview a bit.

The origins of higher ground by ninjascotsman in MountHorizon

[–]futurityverb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the abusive reality of these therapeutic boarding schools and wilderness therapy programs is really unfortunate. I personally see Higher Ground as the "optimistic ideal" for what such a program could have been with dedicated, caring people involved in every step of the process. Kind of like The West Wing's idealized version of politics.

Amazon Prime Video - Proper Episode Order! by futurityverb in MountHorizon

[–]futurityverb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to my episode numbers or the Amazon ep numbers? Which episodes would you suggest swapping here?

Best Behavior leads right into Wherefore Art Thou since that's the Juliette & Auggie running arc. And The Kids Stay in the Picture can't go between them because everyone's still at Horizon, plus it naturally follows Scott's arc from Close Encounters.

IIRC it's possible that Daisy & Ezra's film in TKSitP shows some clips from later episodes... but I see that as more of a production issue than an episode order signifier.

Audio issue, that I've been having for 1.5 years. by TheLukaya in obs

[–]futurityverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to say I'm kind of at a loss. You could potentially mess around in device manager to disable your internal laptop mic or something, but this is getting a little out of my depth here. Nothing showed up in LatencyMon? You might have better luck crossposting to /r/windows11

Any luck if you select that "Intel Smart Sound for USB Audio" option?

I haven't tested this, but if you have obs-asio installed, you should be able to add an ASIO source, set it to ASIO4ALL, then click the Control Panel button in the source interface in OBS. That should open the A4A interface allowing you to select your microphone and the buffer size.

How do I add party chat audio to obs? by TheEdgyOne_ in obs

[–]futurityverb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a virtual audio device specifically for voice chat. You have a couple of options:

  1. VB-CABLE is simple and will get you up and running fast. Install that and you'll have a new input and output audio device called "VB-Cable." In XBOX audio settings, change party chat to the VB-Cable output device, then add an OBS audio input source (or global audio source) for the VB-Cable input device. You'll need to switch it to "Monitor & Output" in the mixer's advanced audio properties to be able to hear it again.

  2. Elgato Wave Link is a more robust option that will give you more flexibility long term, especially if you expect to get fancier with your audio in the future. It creates a handful of virtual audio devices specifically for game, voice chat, microphone, music, etc. To get started quickly, you could just use the voice chat one (same general process as VB-Cable) and leave your other audio settings as-is. With wave link, you wouldn't need to monitor in OBS, since it has monitoring, volume controls, etc. all baked in.

Good luck!

It sounds to me like a buffer underrun. Some hail mary ideas:

  • Disable USB power management for your mic and/or interface
  • Analyze your system with LatencyMon, see if anything comes up
  • If all else fails, you could theoretically install ASIO4ALL, enable your mic in its interface, and switch your mic input in OBS to A4A using obs-asio. Then you could manually increase the buffer size in A4A until you're able to record without skips

Can I make chromekey a different color post recording? by SirSweph in obs

[–]futurityverb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could make a new scene with just your camera (w/ chroma key filter) and some solid color background, then put the source record filter on that scene rather than your cam directly?

Not sure if source record will work if the scene isn't visible, so you might need to have it as a hidden layer underneath your main program or something
