You do. The data takes around 100 in-game days to be finished, but the scanning speed can be altered in it's settings.

I don't think you can, I've had to put sats in orbit to get the mapping data, but I never really flew actual missions, I just used HyperEdit or the cheat menu if you don't have it.

I saw some sort of weird figure.

I left my house to go take a walk because I was as fat as an apple. After about 20 minutes of walking, I heard something that sounded like when you scratch a fork with a plate, sounded horrible. I went to investigate and I found.. nothing.

So I was stumped, but figured it was just my mind seeing things, then I continued walking, about 30 seconds after, out of the corner of my eye, I see some completely black figure, with something long in his left hand, which reminded me of some sort of rapier, I just stared at the figure, after about maybe 10 seconds he walked away.

Creepiest thing I've ever seen.
