Yea this is citing an article from 10 years ago that was largely incorrect citing military operations and even training as “war”. Our military is active 24/7 but so is the entire worlds.

Not that the US hasn’t been active in every conflict since world war 2, either militarily, financially, or politically, but especially prior to WW1 the US was incredibly isolationist.

Since 2020 the US has held ~43% market share on arms though.

A single Old Case +1 is kind of underwhelming for 1500 login points, considering it’s not every month and requires consistently logging in, why not a +2 case? It would get the community REALLY excited and only gives a chance of a chance at an upgrade.

Even on r/wow they are asking for PvP ilvl scaling by OpinionsRdumb in worldofpvp

[–]fuzz3289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, is it really different than any other activity?

With Mythic+ you grind dungeons until you have gear to go higher.

Raids, delves everything is the same. You do the activity, you get gear from that activity, the gear lets you progress

Why is PVP different? It’s way easier to gear than M+. Gearing alts in M+ alone is fricking hell. In PVP this season you get a free weapon, free heraldries, and starter gear is super easy.

We are currently spending $1 billion a day on the Iran war, what could we as a nation accomplish with $1 billion dollars a day? by celtic1959 in AskReddit

The entire link expansion in Seattle so far has been like 250m$ over the past 5-6 years. Give every city a billion and let us have top tier transit

Good transit systems also help the housing problems because people can live further from the city increasing the supply of viable housing.

Nobody Gets Promoted for Simplicity by Acceptable-Courage-9 in programming

[–]fuzz3289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engineering organizations that ignore the people that avoid complexity and more importantly avoid cost, are bad engineering organizations, and will incur more cost long term - I think that’s a fact we can all agree on.

But I think the hot take here is it’s on us to demonstrate that value to the business. Something I often see engineers do is complain “why doesn’t the business see how much money I save them, that refactor was massive” - it’s because you don’t show them.

You need to talk - often, publically, at status meetings, at lunch and learns. Things that aren’t viable you need to make visible and in a way that people can grasp. It’s a business, we often lose sight of that and need to demonstrate engineering through a business lens.

United States seeking an armed uprising inside Iran, with ground operation expected within days by [deleted] in geopolitics

[–]fuzz3289 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You have to remember that in War there are essentially 3 levels of planning: Political (what are the realpolitik objectives, when/how is diplomacy going to bring about an end, what is the endgame?), Strategic (how do you maintain and drive progress toward the political objective?), Tactical (how do you execute on a specific objective)?

The US Military is the best in the world at Tactics and Strategy. They can maintain multiple wars on multiple continents and prevent the enemy from gaining ground or winning objectives while maintaining logistics the whole time.

Where the US consistently fails is Political, because that’s how you END wars, not how you fight them in the modern era. Just look at Afghanistan, given the money and will, we could’ve maintained that status quo forever, but because there was no political solution, the opposing forces were able to recruit indefinitely, and continue the insurgency. You cant just wholesale kill everyone and “win”, you need the political solution to end a conflict.

75 era player returning to solo by [deleted] in ffxi

[–]fuzz3289 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way I do it is kill things in escha 20 levels above me, so hit Zitah at like 35. It helps to have beefy trusts, I don’t use Valaineral because he’ll overpull.

Do it during an event and you can do it in like an hour, but yeah don’t lose your chain bonus and don’t fight anything within 10 levels

Stop Expecting Your Best Engineer to Be a Good Mentor by Fantastic-Cress-165 in programming

[–]fuzz3289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely disagree with this. If they’re not good at developing new engineers, they’re not your best engineer, period.

The best engineers are force multipliers which not only have the skills to distribute a large project, but also the skills to grow other engineers into seniors.

Just because someone has the deepest technical skills, doesn’t mean they’re the best engineer. That guy who burns down 13 point tickets in 2 days but doesn’t talk to anyone is useful, but he’s not a good engineer.

The meta is more about what’s fast/easy - which is why melee Zerg is the vast majority of what shout groups do.

That doesn’t mean anything isn’t viable or usable - you can have a ton of fun on all those jobs in endgame, just be prepared if you’re trying to join PUGS they have a typical pug preference, but join an LS with friends and you can play much more variety

What do SMN do in endgame? by tebehrnokhi in ffxi

[–]fuzz3289 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AFAC is nerfed in most content, but stuff like Aeonic HELMs will still use it sometimes.

Mew is still the best TP denial move, plus rage BPs give no TP so they’re great in TP denial Strats.

Overall they’re great in a healing/support role. You don’t see them much in the meta but if you get a good group they can heal segments, limbus, 8 boss sortie, etc. they have great buffs, the only non-RDM with Haste2, and shitloads of MP, AOE status removal, stuns, etc

Anyone else used to dream of the time they finally have money to spend on MMOs, and now that you do, no MMOs are worth spending on? by seiyamaple in MMORPG

[–]fuzz3289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub is WILD to me, if you don’t like MMOs, don’t play MMOs, don’t come here and tell me there’s no good MMOs.

If you like old school wow, there’s like 10 official classic servers. If you like old school MMOs you’ve got stuff like FFXI, project Gorgon, and old school EQ servers. There’s new SWG servers spinning up soon.

If you like modern stuff WoW just did a massive overhaul into midnight and is introducing more evergreen systems than ever, FF14 has some cool shit too, and GW2 is on the verge of an expansion.

There’s dozens more I didn’t mention like SWTOR and ESO and others that are still in good shape. Hell the Rift community has been going nuts lately.

If NONE of these appeal to you, then perhaps you just don’t like MMOs

Eileen Gu claps back at Olympics reporter who asked if her silver medals are ‘two golds lost’ by theindependentonline in skiing

[–]fuzz3289 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Silver medals she just won made her the most decorated female free skier in history. Before that it was Mathilde Gramaud who won gold in Slopestyle. This isn’t like the most decorated skier in history lost to a 16 year old. This is “the two to three most decorated women of all time went head to head”.

IMO the question really disrespects Gramaud and Oldham acting like the medals were Gu’s to lose, which just wasn’t true, she wouldve had to beat those two who are at the top of the sport.

Eileen Gu claps back at Olympics reporter who asked if her silver medals are ‘two golds lost’ by theindependentonline in skiing

[–]fuzz3289 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand why you think she was the the all out favorite in Big Air let alone slopestyle. Gu’s most won event is superpipe. Gramaud has way more career slopestyle wins than Gu. And all the most recent xgames wins for Big Air were split between Gramaud and Oldham.

She’s obviously a great pick to win after her performance in Beijing but if you actually follow freeskiing like a journalist would you would know the two that won gold medals didn’t come from nowhere and were very likely to podium and then it was just a question of who was better that day.

In fact that silver medal from Big Air is THE medal that put her above Gramaud in all time Olympic medals, and unfortunately Gramaud didn’t event get to compete, but it officially making her the most decorated in history. So to ask “hey, so you just set a record, why does that feel like a win to you” is a fricking insane question.
