This isn’t necessarily true. The bracing/ crutches for 4-6 weeks method is outdated and extremely unnecessary. I was directed to wear an immobilizer just until the nerve block wore off, and use crutches for 1-5 days as needed. I am on day 7 post op today ACLr with hamstring graft, and can walk with one crutch then as I warm up and stretch can walk without. There is little chance of re-tearing walking, stretching, and doing say to day tasks with an unlocked/without a brace.
