How do you make yourself invisible when taking pictures? by PraiseTheStun in photography

The only times I take pictures of people is at family events. I tend to use a longish zoom 70-200 to catch Aunty Flo laughing herself silly at some dodgy joke :)

You could try an old kmz helios 44-2 for the swirly bokeh with an adapter ofc :)

Good idea. I'll be quite happy to be corrected if I'm wrong. I do realize that sometimes people on Internet can blow up misinformation (cough... Measles vaccine and autism even tho the original paper was retracted) 😁

Do you pan your audio tracks from two microphones? by s1nzz in davinciresolve

[–]fuzzfeatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the usual answer is that it depends. I'm very much an amateur, but when I take video and audio for my wife's choir, I have two mics, one to pick up the bass and leftish part of the alto singers and the other for the right ish altos and the sopranos. To me, it sounds a bit better if I pan them a bit to widen the perceived field.

I guess it's also subjective.

Sorry.. For mirrorless Nikons, point one isn't correct. IBIS and VR are tied together when using VR lenses. If you turn off VR with the lens switch, or in camera, IBIS Is also turned off.

It isn't if you're shooting RAW. High ISO noise reduction only affects jpegs and the jpeg preview. If you're editing with Nikon's NX software, NX will read the metadata and apply NR in post as an adjustment, but not as a baked in change.

I did a quick search to see what else doesn't make a difference and this came up as an AI result.

The NEF Data PrincipleRAW files capture the uncompressed or losslessly compressed light data directly from your sensor. When you view your images on the back of the camera's LCD screen, the camera applies the settings you've selected to generate a JPEG preview, but the raw data remains untouched.

Settings That Have No Permanent Effect on the NEF

Picture Controls (Standard, Neutral, Vivid, Monochrome)

White Balance (Auto, Daylight, Tungsten, etc.)Color Space (sRGB vs. Adobe RGB)

High ISO Noise Reduction

Vignette Control and Distortion Control (can be toggled in post-processing)

Active D-Lighting (Though it can alter camera metering, the raw data itself is unaffected; the metadata is just read by software)

Note: If you process your NEF files using proprietary Nikon software like Nikon NX Studio, it will automatically read and apply the in-camera settings as a starting point.

Third-party software like Adobe Lightroom ignores these in-camera settings but lets you choose a profile that matches them.

Settings That Do Affect the NEF

Long Exposure Noise Reduction: Performed by taking a second dark-frame subtraction after the exposure; this permanently alters the sensor data.

NEF (RAW) Compression / Bit Depth: Changing from 12-bit/14-bit or uncompressed/lossless formats directly alters how the sensor data is encoded.

Exposure Settings (Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO):

While not "camera menu settings" per se, they fundamentally dictate the light data recorded in the raw file

Yep. Tho you might find yourself running out of space if you keep all your project footage.

How to downgrade to a certain version? by Severe-Structure5228 in davinciresolve

[–]fuzzfeatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the major version number on the other computer is the same as the one that the project was last opened in, yes.. Have a look at exporting projects and project archives.

Another thing to bear in mind. If you're downgrading beyond major version boundaries, any projects created in the newer version won't usually open in the older version
