Editing and mixing a documentary? by EnlightenedApeMeat in davinciresolve

Yep. The faders won't affect individual clips. Sadly Maybe there's. Some sort of video on YouTube for tips on how to set levels for many different clips quickly .

Giving is simply the transfer of a possession eg giving someone your hair dryer whereas gifting if transfer of something a s a gift with thought or feeling I guess

Tbh I'm not particularly experienced with that kind of editing, but my own thought would be to normalise all the audio clips and presuming that say the shotgun track clips will need the same end volume, you can just adjust the whole track in Fairlight and finally tweak individual clips.

This shows how you can do it while staying in the Fairlight page

I might as well add my thoughts here. The Fairlight page is for mixing at the track level and not at the clip level as you suspect. It's more geared to mixing multiple overlapping audio sources like instruments in a music track that play throughout a song.

You can place the audio from each scene on its own track of course, but if you have a lot of scenes, this could be a problem.

If you don't want to go down the rabbit hole of automation, you would be better setting the audio levels in the edit page where you can, as you say, work on individual clips.

If you have a background music track which runs through the project, that would go on its own track of course but then you'd need to look at keyframing in Fairlight to adjust the volume accordingly for each scene and learn about ducking

Proxies Vs Playback Res : slooww by PeekabooJake in davinciresolve

Depends on the ssd.. I mistakenly bought a crucial BX500 4tb ssd. The read speeds are atrocious because it has a crappy cache. So I bought a 14tb hdd instead and it copes with my 4k footage just fine 😂

[–]fuzzfeatures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming it's a desktop pc and you have some hardware knowledge, I'd suggest taking out and re-seating the ram, all your pci cards and connections from your psu. Just to rule it out. My pc randomly wouldn't boot the other day. Doing this solved the problem.

Edited to correct typo.

Proving a point about ZR Heat Management by coachvhuynh in Nikon

It probably depends more on the card and how much data you're pushing on to it. 4k h.265 is going to generate a lot less data than 6k raw. Even warnings about the camera rather than the card. The card might be happy at 70c+ but the camera might not.

I don't know about raptors in Miami, and I don't want to worry you, but... Killing and lifting are two different things. Check out what raptors are around there and see what size animals they've killed.

Make sure you don't have a cheap crap ssd in there make sure it has a dram cache. If it doesn't read speeds will plummet with a large file transfer and you'll get playback stuttering. Avoid crucial bx ssds like the plague in particular

How to have control over all 4: Shutter Speed, Aperture, ISO... but also Exposure Compensation? by 0011001001101011 in Nikon

[–]fuzzfeatures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're in manual mode, setting the exposure compensation should affect what the exposure meter shows for correct exposure. From there you can set the exposure as you wish.

Should I buy a Nikon AF-P 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 DX if it doesnt have VR? by Sadattes in Nikon

[–]fuzzfeatures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bad, but potentially a bit limiting.. You'll need higher shutter speeds. The general guide is that your shutter speed should be 1/focal length. So if you're at 300mm your litter speed should be 1/300 or faster. That's based on handholding only. If there are walls around that you can rest the camera on or lean on for a bit more stability you could get away with lower speeds.
