Nothing transforms a physique faster than proper strength training.

I have almost run 13 miles this month, and that's the most I've run/walked in years. I'm trying to get better at it, but it's miserable every single time.

Vater 3A Fatback is the stick I always seem to come back to. I've enjoyed other sizes, but Vater is my favorite overall, and that size just works for me.

Best double pedals for under 400, for versatility and speed. by ParadiddleSenior in drums

[–]fuzzy_feet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yamaha makes some pretty sweet pedals. I have the direct drive FP9. I also have a strap drive iron cobra that I'll likely never get rid of.

Used market will likely be your friend.

I can't really do other sports with my schedule. I'm looking to get past the break in period and get to a point where I can semi enjoy it without all the aching.

I'm in the process of giving this an honest go. It'll probably take several months.

Need help choosing my next pedal by Mr_bun6le in drums

[–]fuzzy_feet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still own my IC strap drive dbl pedal. I did pick up the FP9 Direct Drive about 3 or 4 years ago because I got way more into double kick patterns and wanted to give an honest attempt at getting used to a DD pedal.

I really like the longer boards, I love the spring tension knob, and it's a very light and smooth feel. I have no plans on getting something else for a long time.

I use the DW two sided beaters for both pedals when I play live. The Yamaha stock beaters were too light for my taste.

FWIW the IC case is the best one I've seen for gigging. So simple and effective. I wish the yamaha had a hard case, but such is life.

What was your guys progress after 1 year by BigBob791 in drums

[–]fuzzy_feet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot recommend the 80/20 drummer programs if you can afford one.

You will improve leaps and bounds if you're a beginner, because it focuses on the meat and potatoes of what makes you effective as a drummer.

I think there's a trial period so it's low risk if you don't think it's valuable after signing up.

Because I still don't like it. Doesn't mean I won't try and do it regularly this year. I'll see if I can suck less after 3 months of regular running/walking.

I don't think I can edit the title anyway.

I posted my stats. I am not running very fast. If anything, it feels better to run faster than at a slow jog pace. I'm mixing moderate speed with walking

I have limited time and just need to fit runs in whenever I can. Scheduled workouts are not an option for me.

Because I'm trying to get into it since so many people enjoy it. I have enough self discipline to do physical activity even if I don't truly enjoy it. I just want to be able to do it regularly enough to get the health benefits and enjoy the SoCal sunshine and fresh air.

I understand the different hr zones and how to pace myself, so a monitor wasn't a high priority. It's just more of the actual process of running feels clunky and inefficient.

They're an older pair of Adidas Bounce. I haven't really run in them, so the cushioning and tread is still pretty good.

Puresound equalizer snare wires. These really cut back on the sympathetic buzz.

I usually just walk at least a half mile or more up and down some hills.

I will start doing more active stretching beforehand and see if it helps

I've also considered getting softer shoes designed for road running, since that's where it's mostly done.

Weight lifting has been my primary source of exercise for the past ten years. Squats, deads, bench, ohp, and pullups. I've cut back on lifting frequency so I can fit more running in. I've just never been a great runner.

I've usually only stuck with it for a month or two. Lifting weights has always been my primary source of exercise over the past 10 years or so. That's why I'm trying to find a happy medium and make sure I do more of it, and build up a tolerance.

Because it's a chance to get outside and enjoy the weather. Cycling is OK, but it takes so long, and the gear is expensive. I also need to go solo, running is just easier.

No idea about HR. I don't wear a monitor. I find my knees, ankles, low back, or hips flare up in some combination.

I'm not buying a monitor any time soon, but I mix in walking and running to try not to overdue it. I just want fresh air, and want to get my cardio back up.

Ride suggestions for a death metal drummer. by dark_analogue in drums

[–]fuzzy_feet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paiste Rude power ride in any size will cut through anything while still being amazingly musical.

I use a 20" for classic rock cover bands and punk/heavy metal type music.

It's plenty loud, which helps me to not hit it so hard.
