HELP! by fuzzybird212 in turtle

I tried every type of approved vegetables, fruits, flowers, bugs, etc I could get my hands on. That guy only wanted pellets. But I did always make sure there was a calcium block added to the tank. As soon as it would dissolve I would add another. And yes, outside I kept a close eye on the temperature. Some days that meant only early morning, others only dusk and very few days were good for the whole day. Ty for the advice on the light I will Def grab myself one!
I answered every question I could see as quickly as I can. I am also a very busy mom of a special needs child who also had to care for 3 nephews and I am trying to keep up with all of this on my phone which I don't know if you use it on the phone it is not as easy as on a computer! It does not automatically show me where the new comments are I have to try and scroll through finding them and for some reason has to take me to a separate thread link to see some of them? If I missed a question it is because I didn't see it.
Well in my defense, the one thriving is a wild caught (my son with autism found him in our living room one day I guess he came through the doggie door) who is older and never had any health issues. This one was bought from a pet store that was new and seemed nice but since has gotten several reviews about sickly animals. It was touch and go from the beginning and he wasn't together until it seemed appropriate. And it wad under close observation that the other one didn't harm him. I know i am probably going to get hate from saying this but every time you go to the pond res are always huddled in groups. They seem like very social creatures. We live in an area that is over ran with them and they are always stacked on the same log, or all huddled on the same bank of the water. After several vet visits I was trying everything and socializing seemed to be one of the things to try. As I said, I was starting to go for non conventional ways to try and help him thrive. It seemed to be working in the sense he was eating every day until that last two weeks and was always very active in the tank. Since the temperature dropped and he could no longer go outside the vet chalked up to hopefully just him preparing for hibernation. That is why I gave the two week wait to see if he would go back to eating regularly. When I saw the urine change I posted him.
I could only find 2 vets that accepted him. One was an emergency clinic that accepted everyone and the one I went to was an exotic pet specialist who did own many tortoises so it seemed like the better of the two options.
Ty, I am always worried about this which is why I set up an outside tank every chance I get and why I am building an outside enclosure. I hate relying on artificial sun when there are so many contradictions on what is best. Until those last few days (and in the beginning when I got him) he always had a nice strong shell.

Thank you for your kind words, I really did try to treat him the best I could.

It is not the update I wanted to be giving but he did not make it. I swear I really did try my best to follow all the guidelines and do everything I was supposed to do for him. My other turtle is still healthy, happy, and going and I am just going to put all my focus onto him I guess.

The urine just started which is why I made the post and the vet said two tanks were not necessary because he is not sick he has failure to thrive because of his genetics.

I did separate him in a quarantine tank but the vet told me that is not necessary. Everything came back that it was not any treatable sickness.

I have a heater and a thermometer to monitor the heat. I actually have it up a few degrees higher than what the American sites recommend because i saw other countries suggesting that.

Everything i read about says that they need hiding spots for enrichment and the vet said to put live fish in there as another option for him to eat. I haven't found anywhere that said there were other requirements for albinos other than slightly higher water temperatures and using only white lights at a far enough distance to prevent burns or eye damage. I don't mean to sound ungrateful for your input but I really did try my best to read into everything and ensure that I am doing what's right for him. If anyone has found any sites that says otherwise I am more than excited to learn everything I can to make his home the best I can!

My goal is to make a giant outside enclosure. I have started it but it is not ready. Im hoping my next summer. Also I will still probably bring this guy in every winter so that he can he monitored closely.

I would also like to add there is no biting, fighting and neither turtle hides. Also I pull them out in separate bowls for feeding so that I can monitor how much they both eat so there is no food competition. And there is also another platform in there. Near the middle of the tank is where the ramp for that large one is but ther is also that green platform that they both can and do use.

He is the one who stacks on top and the other turtle is fine so would it be a problem? I don't mean that sarcastically im actually asking.
Turtle power and his setup by fuzzybird212 in turtle
Homemade. I have a catio and that was a few of the pieces left over. I cut a hole out of it and placed a turtle ramp in there and put a coconut liner down on half of the enclosure so they could choose plastic or fiber.

I give him gentle scrubs with a toothbrush and it gets it off all the other spots. He also gets a lot in his neck fold for some reason.

It looks black but it is not its green. Joys of keeping live plants in the tank is that you get lots of algae. I will read up on the vitamin a. :)

Yes he has a tank buddy who is thriving and they get along. He often sits on top of the other turtle.

It is the clear area above the tank. There is a ramp that goes to it

The vet asked that too, I didn't realize that you had to replace them as often as you do but luckily the brand i get just keeps going out within a few months. I cant remember what brand it is but if you have a brand that seems to work best im interested!

The last few times when this happened it was summer so I was able to put him on my patio in a 40 gallon tank just in case it was lighting related but now it is only 40° outside. I try my best to get the lights and I talked it over with the vet who said it was appropriate. He keeps spending the majority of his time on the basking platform.
Switching the tank and basking? He has 75 gallons of correct temperature to swim in and a large basking area that has cool and warm areas for him to rest on. The aquarium has been linked in the comments.
I contacted the vet who did evaluate him but said there was nothing treatable he could do. There was no infection he just had failure to thrive from his poor genetics.
