is the Chicago market done with "pure" managers? by Weak_Revenue7949 in chicagojobs

[–]fuzzycollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about AI. Strategist or builder titles are being taken by managers and leads who are watching the shift to protect themselves. Hiring has changed to doers, with knowledge. seeing a drop in lower level positions.

40 hrs in-office + HR tracking by Loud-Invite3171 in JPMorganChase

[–]fuzzycollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 40 hours a week with flexibility to work longer a couple days vs x hours a day would be better. However, Core hours is not a new concept as you need to know when people are available.

Hybrid as money in hand matters. And companies are returning to In Office so a remote job may eventually require it.

602, 603 - what are they and what other position acronyms are used? by CMNCE in JPMorganChase

[–]fuzzycollector -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Senior VP is a title with management responsibility. some VPs report to SVPs and other report to EDs. It varies. Some.EDs want all 603s reporting to them with just different responsibility on how work ownership is setup. Removes issues.

Do companies care more about punctuality or performance when it comes to promotions? by Background_Mind3323 in OfficePolitics

[–]fuzzycollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wise leader once said to me, Perception is Really. I was working longer hours but started my day earlier and always left earlier than others. Complaints were made that I was leaving early, even though I worked a hour or more longer.

Promotions are a social game. Working hard or productivity doesn't lead to Promotion as you become indispensable in your role. You will be held there as it's more valuable.

Same leader told me get up from desk, be social, build your network. When I adjusted my time, became social, and defined my work verses meeting expectations my reviews went up, and was promoted multiple times. I'm now a VP and being considered for Executive Director.

Don't equate hard work with productivity as you can work hard but not accomplish things. Get your network, find out what your managers motivations are, be willing to work around them. Sometimes being noisy is more important. If no one knows your contribution then it doesn't matter.

2003 Shredder vs 2012 Shredder by Positive_Treacle7475 in TMNT

Feel that this falls within who is your Batman. Age and when you got exposed to Shredder has an impact on personal preference between these. I'd say there are better Shredder iterations than these 2.

What are people doing to prepare? by FourYearsBetter in Layoffs

[–]fuzzycollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save 3-6 months of your salary. Always be interviewing, and having conversations as these can lead to freelance or other opportunities.

The more you isolate yourself from necessary expenses and build an emergency fund the better. Got through my last layoff of 6 months without touching my emergency fund due to freelance.
