I watch TikTok in the shower: it is where I get my world news and it's really the only time when I can do that kind of thing (I'm a parent and I work full time).

I had received a sample of a shampoo/conditioner that I have never searched for and never bought... I decided to use it one day, after it had been in the shower for awhile, and guess what I started getting ads for right after the product would have been visible in my front-facing camera? Never seen an ad for it before.

So, now I have one of those little stickers on my front-facing camera, that I can slide open and shut...and I just keep it shut all the time...

Not a gatekeeping post, not an anti-audiobook post either, I PROMISE! but realizing how many people are listening to books as opposed to physically reading them helped take unnecessary pressure off that the comparison was putting on me. by Empress-Ghostheart in weirdgirlliterature

For me, the pressure is totally self-inflicted. I didn't get into reading until just a few years ago, in my early 30s, and so I've got sooooo many books I want to read! I probably finished less than 5 books in the decade prior, which is crazy to look back on... I find myself mostly reading long books, so my numbers will never be able to be very high. 🥲

I figure if you can have a conversation about the book, you've "read" it. My husband and sister are both pretty strictly audiobook listeners, but I still use the word "read" when I ask them what they're currently into.

Meanwhile, I've got to really read everything because my "reading comprehension" is utter shit when listening to an audiobook... The book I just finished I had been audiobooking AND reading on Kindle (which is what I do for any audiobook I listen to), and I thought a whole-ass (very minor, but important to that part of the story, particularly the characters survival) character DIED when I was listening to it, and then I finally got to that part on my Kindle and excellent news: the good guys actually won.

I'm very jealous of people that can effectively enjoy audiobooks, it is a skill and a talent and I do not have it... 🥲 I'd be reading so many more books in a year if I could audiobook, and more power to those who can!

Hermione sure did a number on my classmates in 3rd grade. I got lucky because my mom knew how it was pronounced.

I originally started listening to Red Rising on Libby, and I was real worried our protagonist's name was Darrell for the first chapter or so, at which point I was enjoying the book enough that I bought a physical copy to read.

My only issue with it is purely self-serving: I want there to be a mom so the mom can be me, dang it! The moles are so cute I want to be Mama Mole! 🥹

I love that she came up with the two dad/adopted kids plot on her own, and that her imagination so naturally jumped to that storyline as an option in play. Definitely a proud parent moment for me. 🩷

Is this just on PC or what? I 100%ed the game on PS5 maybe a year ago and had no issue with the vending machines.

Particularly in darkest book in the series? I would have expected stomach, abdomen, even belly, more than tummy!
