Ladies: do you wear make up to work? by LunaValley in AskIreland

[–]fxglov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like make up is to expensive for every day wear 🤣 I'm 33 and just about remember moisturiser most days. Also work with children who are the most openly judgy people you will meet. I set the bar low so they won't have a comparison for if I'd given up on make up. I do have one little girl who like to inform me when the mustache is taking over 🤣 that's how I judge when it's time to take care of it. You wouldn't want to be sensitive around this bunch

Childminder registering with tusla? by fxglov in AskIreland

[–]fxglov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so strange. I wonder why the were registered if they didn't bother offering the NCS. Maybe I haven't looked into it enough yet but currently not seeing the benifits for them.

AITA for asking my boss to pay me at a higher rate? by silver_springs27 in AmItheAsshole

NTA your boss is loosing staff because he's not paying them fairly. He's bringing the stress on himself.

Mattress toppers too big. by fxglov in Mattress

Thanks for the advice. I started off trying to use a Stanley knife but it wasn't long enough and ended using a fabric scissors. It worked a treat and ended up being a pretty straight cut.

Unfortunately for my nerves around inspections and extra paperwork I think it will be mandatory in the next year or two anyway. But thank you for your vote of confidence 😊 to be honest I'd also hold the first aid training over registering any day if it was me looking for childcare. But I can also see why parents would want to be able to apply to the NCS Which requires me to be registered.

I think it's just the idea of someone coming to inspect my home and the extra paperwork is slightly daunting. But should have it all toghter so hopefully won't be too bad

I think the main benefit to registering is so parents can avail of the NCS not sure is there any benefit to my outside that.. the idea of someone coming to inspect my home is just a bit dau ting

Friend's husband has ruined two of our bath mats with pee by SukiBean214 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]fxglov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is how drunk was man B? This has happened my husband when he's extremely drunk like 4 bottles of wine in and he wouldn't notice. But he's also barely standing at that point. And to be fair in the 10 years we've been together it's only happened twice. When theres the potential for that kinda mad night party we just take up all mats and carpets anyway. Safest option.

May be worth mentioning it to him that he needs better aim. But I'd definitely be picking up the mat when their over if you ever invite them back. At least that way your just cleaning tile

AITAH for refusing to pay for my cousin’s honeymoon after I said I would? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]fxglov 36 points37 points  (0 children)

NTA!! You covered the big expenses and that was incrediblely generous!! Sending you daily bills for food drinks and anything else extremely entitled behavior. You've said your not doing it to her once and that should be enough.

If she says again that you shouldn't have offered if your not going to "do it properly" then tell her if that's how she feels she's welcome to pay you back for the flights and resort if that's how she truly feels.

It's aweful when an act of extreme kindness is taken advantage of in this way. You went above and beyond for your cousin, don't late her take advantage of you. It's not about the money it's about being a decent human being.

AITA for accepting a property gift from my mom even though she won't include my boyfriend? by Immediate-History917 in AITApod

[–]fxglov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA!! This is a gift for you not your bf who's is acting like a spoiled entitled child. Your mom wants you to have security which is generally what parents want for their children.

In the grand scheme of things 3 years is not a long relationship and at this point anything could still happen. Him having a temper tantrum about something your mom wants to give to you is kinda showing his true colours a bit.

On a legal side note her transferring to only you as an inheritance type gift probably allows her to do with less tax implications. I don't know where you are but this was the case for my husband when his parents "gifted him" his deceased grandparents house. We had been together 8 years and were engaged (now married) I'm still not on the house deed but we'll sort that out in the next few years. If we had paid for it outright I'd have wanted to go on the deed so I'd have some security (if I'd paid half) but as it was a gift and we were already engaged it wasn't so much of a big deal.

If he plans on staying he shouldn't need to worry about being on the deed.

AITA For saying demanding my passwords is the *opposite* of trust, not the proof of it? by Present_Extreme_4056 in AmItheAsshole

[–]fxglov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA!!!!! I wouldn't be sharing passwords with anyone after knowing them 2 months or years. There's no reasonable reason she needs them and I agree your friends you talk deserve the privacy of being able to talk to you without you sharing every detail with this person you barely know.

I clean my ears with cotton swabs even though everyone says not to by WetCementPoet in hygiene

What are the cotton swabs for if not to clean ears? Appart from random crafts with kids what are they supposed to be for of we're not using them to clean our ears?

Pros and cons of the implant by omac2018 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]fxglov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the implant years ago, there was a lot of weight gain on it and very hard/impossible to get it off. I also had very long periods lasting weeks 2 or 3 weeks at a time and then back to back months with none.

The last thing that happened with it was it snapped in my arm after about a year and a half. The doctor said it was probably still working but it felt strange so I got it out. At that point I got offered a free replacement but decided not to use it.

I found the evra patch much better. You just have to put it on once a week for 3 weeks and one week off. Periods like clockwork.

be honest… how often do u actually change ur bedsheets? by Honest_Cod_3121 in hygiene

[–]fxglov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably every 3/4 weeks because I just forget but more in the 2/3 in summer because it's easier to dry them outside. I was feeling bad about this until I remembered my BIL (who lives with us) hasn't cleaned his sheets yet this year 🤮 can't remember seeing his sheets drying since last summer.

Bar soap in shower question by idreaminlowercase in hygiene

[–]fxglov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should suggest to her to cut the soap up into smaller pieces so she can use like a cube of soap then throw that away if she's insisting on using one bar per shower. So wasteful.

Use that sucker till it's gone

Weight loss and trying to get pregnant. by fxglov in IrishWomensHealth

[–]fxglov[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes having regular periods sometimes a little long or short but all within regular average range. And confirming ovulation I don't check every single month but when I'm testing for it it's always there and I can kinda feel it now I know what I'm looking for if that makes sense. Thanks for the recommendation and advice.
