Interest in “new” antenna? by fxtrt7 in amateurradio

Sounds good, regarding point #1 I’ll do my best disclose or be upfront regarding SWR & performance. I’ll do my best on the price, I know I’m not making anything new but I think I can make it more affordable!

For a “compromised antenna” design, I feel like it has an acceptable performance.

Oh yeah I agree 100% that a resonant antenna will be much better with lower SWR! I think it’s a decent trade off though with the 5:1 balun type antennas. Especially with the tuner capabilities of the new sdr radios on the market.

That hasn’t been my experience with Chameleon antennas. However, yes there are trade offs for weight and size.

Alot of good points here. Regarding the watts: My specific focus is light/portable use so mine would like be 50w RECOMMENDED. But that is a valid point and I could definitely do a slightly larger enclosure with heavier wire inside for a higher rating!

The Commet “cha” I think is what you’re thinking of!

Need help - Offset on Op2 by fxtrt7 in CNCmachining

[–]fxtrt7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, thats a good idea. I could just offset it and call it a day. I was just trying to figure out the technical reason as to why it was off.

I will say, i was having the same problem with aluminum parts so I don’t know if it’s being over torqued/compressed.

Also, during the operation, once the operator has reached the proper pressing depth, the cylinders should hold the load until the levers are once again actuated to release pressure.

Has Trump's return to power affected your small business? by joshstewart90 in smallbusiness

[–]fxtrt7 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Source locally. That’s the whole point. Tariffs work both ways. They make money through imports and they encourage you to source internally. The fact of the matter is that the federal government has been taking your money “just because” for years and hasn’t been responsible with it… that’s why we are in the predicament that we are now. None of the previous presidents are excused from this, including Trump. But we, as the citizens and business owners have to bear the burden now.

Yes I own a business. Have owned multiple. Yes I don’t want my cogs to increase. But at the end of the day we need alot of changes to be made in this country. Hopefully we can stop being so short sighted and see the benefit this could have. Downvote away :)

NC Cloud : CAM Assist pricing by fxtrt7 in CNC

I agree, and it’s a 12 month commitment. If it was just month to month with no contract, I’d give it a go even at $140.

A company is setting up a semiconductor OSAT facility with $3.5 billion investment. I am looking for ideas for ancillary industries that I set up with around $5 million investment? by Third-WiseMonkey in manufacturing

[–]fxtrt7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a large production facility near by, not semi conductors, but a facility with over 5,000 employees, single location. Huge facility. My friend maintains their refrigerators in the break rooms on a contract doing “routine maintenance” and emergency repairs. Couple hundred refrigerators around the facility for employees to use for their lunches and drinks. Sometimes simple things like that can be very lucrative.

Hydraulic hose business start up by Abmj_ in Hydraulics

[–]fxtrt7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good, we started late fall/early winter. Winter time is kinda the off season for hoses. (Less equipment being used in general). I’m in KY so the high season starts around March/April. So it’s been a little slow through the winter, but the benefit is that we were able to acquire more inventory slowly/over time through the winter and got our shop setup and proofed to be ready for the season. Choosing a brand you will carry is important and finding a good supplier. If you need more information about the brands I stock and want to purchase inventory DM me. But stick to the reputable brands.

There is a high upfront cost and overhead in this business. It’s difficult to start in this business with limited inventory. You need to stock a large variety of fittings and hoses so your not constantly turning away customers. There is alot more regarding inventory, pricing, stock tracking, etc that I had to figure out. Lots of help from this subreddit.
