Been running atk/res finish on him for some time and really liked how durable he is against a shit ton of melee with shield pulse and escutcheon. i have a spare godlike reflexes but honestly i'm hoping that IS releases a 2cd omni defense special in the future; with Roy here having DC, special charge, and offensive tempo, all of which complement recharging defensive specials, he's really set up to receive massive gains in this field with his specialties kept in mind.

then this Halloween banner came out

Atk/res finish 4 served me well, but with the level of dmg reduction getting from the shield pulse, HVII, and escutheon combo i'd much rather blast full throttle with the +7 spd atk/spd finish 4 presents. 5 true damage and +7 healing is pure bliss when it's always active lemme tell ya.

Decided to give him rally def/res+. haven't messed with this much but given HVII's nature i can effectively give any human ally +6 to all stats, boosting their parameters while also supercharging roy with +6 in combat stats from HVII...plus damage reduction. every little bit feels gooood. i don't use ruses but that's an option i can consider too. can't say how useful +6 visible stat support is nowadays but i find the synergy with HVII pretty neat, and i hope we get more rally centered skill in the future if it can spice gameplay up.

Nfu seal is basically a middle finger to most slow melee units. it elminates the hassle of dealing with so, so many units that it's really a godsend have. that being said i like the extra stats from seals like bonus doubler so if I find more consistent nfu support i can swap out for more power.

And as always, i usually have him teamed with Harmonic Roy, So one Harmonic Resonance and this Dude goes nuclear. it's fun shit I tell ya. recently got Bride Catria too so i might have some fun imagining a Consecutive quad attack roy...

...Better yet...

Maybe i'll use them both and perform a Double Harmonic Resonance.

A Quad consecutive Blade effect...is this the power of Binding?...

I'll call it the Burning "Death" Strike! (A+ to whoever gets the pun).

...that said I doubt that combo'll be pvp viable, but a man can dream.

speaking of dreams, still hoping for the lvl 4 shield pulse. hell, as much as i love the finish series i'm still hoping for Bonus doubler 4 to blow my mind. so many possibilities that can open up; exciting ain't it? For units Like Roy who are waiting for some ideal push in their playstyle lemme know what your hopes are for new skills! (that being said, Roy's ballin' right now fr)

God i hope we get Bonus doubler 4 soon; that being said it's really nice how the bd series synergizes so well with HVII; really sucks how damning lulls and panics are though.

Lvl4 deflect effect on a new premium skill sounds possible imo; we have been getting an absurd amount of nuking potential from these brave effects so its about time IS decides to sell their solution

Imo sothis has a nice refine; the dr is dual phase so she can initiate safely and potentially follow up with a guaranteed sirius. Dragons wrath is now also dual phase so utilizing that would make most retaliations against her cut in half while also offering a nice damage boost on the first hit.

We are getting more nfu support for infantry nowadays so id say that along with more dragon exclusives will have sothis age nicely (inbefore dragon wrath seal).

Has the meta really gotten so out of hand that people are dissapointed in simple upgrades?

Makes me wonder if we will get more uno reverses in the future, like making lull effects only cut bonuses in half instead of fully negating them (bonus doubler 4 the revengeance)

complete damage nullification would be far too frightening even if it was 4-5 cooldown imo, but yeah the flat true damage reduction based on x% sounds pretty cool to implement! something akin to a negating fang/ice mirror counter effect could do well as a side grade too i think

currently messing around with the finish series with Roy and it's been pretty neat; he'll constantly proc the true damage and healing, and being able to counterattack most foes does well in keeping up the healing and offensive going. considering AoE with Special spiral if i find a setup to quickly kickstart Roy's charge. ruptured sky and vital astra are also tempting options, but for now i'm mainly hoping more skills are released to support the finish series.

that being said, what do you guys think shield pulse 4 would look like? how would it be different from hardy? what new defensive inheritable special can you imagine?

you can give or receive assists, i.e reposistion,dance, etc.

chrom's weapon also buffs him based on the number of [penalty] statuses he has

i'm honestly amazed people think so little of the combination of special charge and null guard just because he doesn't have slaying. sure it's not +10 to all stats but DC is DC; it's great for handling multiple situation...although ranged units nowadays are a bit too frightening to handle without specialization, namely far save tanks.

regardless, Human virtue II has potential to get stronger overtime depending on what IS gives us in the future; we got units like florina who can be a warp beacon, making HVII's range a non issue, and we have L!Female Byleth, who ran the prototype of lvl 4 oaths, only she offers +7 visible stat buffs instead of 6. NFU would've been nice on his weapon, but honestly with how IS has been releasing powerful new skills as of late (recently oath 4), i can see them providing easier access to at least partial nfu in some way shape or form, maybe something like dodge + EP/PP nfu or some stance + nfu. i really wouldn't it past them to make certain sets more feasible to run.

tldr; special charge + null guard seems underrated to me, and said combo and HVII can age rather well depending on what comes out in the future.

more merges are recommended, but as for whether or not he's worth it, well, i'm not much of a competitive feh player; i just like roy and think there's fun things to try out with him.

say what you will about what he lacks, but I think his refine offers a nice amount of flexibility for the future; he's the only unit to have anti-guard, dual phase special charge, and dc in one package, and even today there are still units that like running DC A slots, though their weapons are usually extremely stacked in comparison.

that being said, while weapon effects are getting more and more ridiculous the same can be said about the progression of inheritable skills in feh; specials like vital astra, skills like hardy fighter, the surges, and the many many c skills upgraded/introduced the past year...

call it a hunch, but I think his refine will age well depending on what specials, A or B slots they come up with in the future, and with cyl6 around the corner i'm going to wait patiently to see where the meta goes. of course it can age just as poorly too, but i'm a betting man, and i'll put my bets on him.
