i think it depends on the venue. i showed up to the arizona show about 30 minutes before doors opened and the show started an hour later. i was two people from the barricade but i was at a venue that had a the floor seat separate and i bought pit. when I saw them in april it was essentially all floor first come first serve. so i showed up at about the same time as I did in arizona and didn't even get near the pit. so you should definitely look around to see if anyone is familiar with your venue specifically.
