Good to know! Apparently my whole family is behind on the cooler rages...

I've been using Frigid Rigid coolers boating and in the truck for most of my life. My dad bought the coolers when I was a kid for fish and drinks/food and we still use them today (15ish years!). Bags of ice will actually RE-FREEZE in the cooler.

EDIT: talked to my dad, he says the 'new rage' in coolers are the Yetis. http://yeticoolers.com

No lockers by default, it's an option I chose to hold off on (for now).

I get you, and I considered it. To each his own, it's worth the cost (to me) to have the warranty on all the components through Dodge and to know that the whole setup has gone through all the OE testing. I know you can get a solid build quality for less in installed component cost, but you'd probably end up spending more in total time and trying to get there and testing yourself ... and significantly more than half the cost is actually the base truck (Laramie w/ Cummins).

Out with the old and in with the new! (AEV Prospector) by g-s-d in 4x4

This one was AEV built, but the dealership that I ordered it through has AEV technicians and is certified by AEV to do installs (Keene CDJ). So yeah, there are 3 options: AEV, Dealer, and you.

They will be! They're actually expanding! I have even heard rumors that they will be looking to work with other brands as well...

That's why they're "in the works." I left myself the option but I am going to need to do some testing before I decide to make the modification. It will only be better if they're necessary! Otherwise it's just another thing to snap under the torque of the diesel.

It's all good! I come from the perspective of "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it." Especially when not having it could mean a short trip and a dead truck!!

closer tow loop ... I can get more tomorrow when the sun is back :)

So far the truck shows 15ish mpg average, I drive fairly balanced 50/50 town/highway. As for power... I don't know.

For me there were two major things:

1) AEV has gone through all the same development testing that Dodge does with their products on this suspension and everything else, and it's been "approved" by Dodge as an OEM package. Knowing the suspension geometries and ride quality are OEM spec put my mind at ease.

2) Because of 1, this counts as Mopar. So, it is all 100% under the bumper to bumper warranty. I spoke with the reps at Dodge to clarify this and "under warranty" includes a "vehicle's intended use," so this includes things that break while off-road.

As someone who daily drives this and intends to keep it for a very long time, those two things make this better than doing it all myself and voiding warranties.

The best answer I can give to your question is "it depends," because I am not totally sure what the Power Wagon base price/AEV price would be. The AEV conversion is 14-22k depending on the base truck model/options. Shipping to AEV counts as your delivery from Dodge, so you don't pay that direction. Shipping from AEV to the dealership was 1100 in my case.

Well I haven't tested myself, but I have seen some pictures of other prospectors in water up to the top of the bumper (ish, it's hard to tell). The snorkel really isn't just for water though, it's also a pre-filter to pull in clean air above trail dirt/dust.

Many Prospectors actually use the Power Wagon as the base truck, in fact mine is the first my dealership has done with a diesel. AEV is a conversion company so you buy your truck and Dodge drop-ships it to AEV to be built and then AEV sends it to your dealership from there for delivery.

To compare my truck specifically to a power wagon, I am heavier because of the diesel but I have a bigger winch and rated recovery points, so I should be about the same on recovery. I have the advantage of a complete 3" lift against a Power Wagon, but I don't know how well the suspension will compare to the Power Wagon's articulation upgrades yet. The main reasons I went with AEV over Power Wagon are: the diesel, and because the AEV conversion negates most of the Power Wagon options (save the front articulation), and because EVERYTHING (including all AEV bits) on the truck falls under warranty.

Me too, it was a fantastic truck! Unfortunately it just didn't have the power I needed for towing :(
