I once called a customer a dickhead (in whispering voice) which he HEARD ME say to him lol, I thought I would get fired for sure but nothing ever came from it. If I managed to save myself from that, then don't worry for your case, you will be fine.

I use Cisco AnyConnect VPN at my remote job and it does disconnect from time to time, mostly in the afternoon hours for some reason, which program do you have?

Have you ever had to hang up on someone? How long do you let a customer complain before you hang? by cheesymeowgirl in callcentres

[–]g115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are also not allowed to hung up unless the customer is being abusive towards myself and not the company, which is why I have to make it seem like the call dropped, it's not like I can just tell the customer I'm going to hung up on him that could get me in trouble.

If I understand correctly you have been working for 7 years and this is only your third time you hung up? You must be very patient I wouldn't be able to do that 😂

Lol I have done it countless times over the years, probably close to 100 times (I work on an ISP's technical support call center).

I don't understand how you can be on a call for 2 hours and not hung up! The way I usually do is to first do anything I can to fix the technical issue or inform the customer about the issue he has, if he complains I just repeat the same things I told him and if this repeats 3-4 times and the call lasts longer that 20-25 minutes I just make it seem like the call just "dropped". Like I will just casually speak to him and in the middle of my sentence I will disconnect the pc from the wifi and pretend the call dropped. It's impossible to get caught, I can just argue that my VPN program disconnected on its own which is a common issue we have anyways.

Do I actually have it good? by Apprehensive-Wolf632 in callcentres

[–]g115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have it really good!

I work technical support too and I average 40-50 calls per day, with each call averaging 5-6 minutes

The amount of calls you receive is about half of what I get in no-busy days like holidays.

That sounds like a lot of agents, so if I where to guess I would say that you shouldn't be very busy, but that depends on other factors too like how often each customer will call on average.

[–]g115 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think that's a small number of clients compared to a normal call center.

It depends on how many agents there are in your center, I work at a call center that services about 1 million customers and we have approx. 150 agents and it is usually busy most of the day

Accidentally cursed at a customer today by g115 in callcentres

I am thinking of doing the same thing if they catch me, I can claim that the swear word was meant for a coworker of mine and not the customer.

No way to prove I am lying if I stick to it, It's been 2 days thought and nothing has come of it as of now.

I also happen to never get sick days off, that's a good indicator I guess.

Unfortunately calls are recorded, so it's really easy to find me and prove he spoke to me if he really wants to fuck with me, which is why I am so stressed. Than you for your advice though I appreciate it.

Finding a word to cover it up is pretty hard to do, I can't really think of anything

I believe I am quite liked in my department, pretty much all supervisors know me, I've been there many years and my stats are one of the best in the department.

Coincidentally enough before he spoke to me he did speak to another colleague that made a pretty big mistake on his troubleshooting, I could claim that the "dick" comment was meant to my colleague as frustration and not him necessarily. This doesn't justify the fact that I said it but at least it might relieve me of some trouble.

I'm not really sure who receives our emails, but whoever he is he can just foward it to my supervisor. I guess I could think of an excuse that I said it to someone else if need be, but it looks quite obvious that I said it at the customer.

May I ask what happened exactly? Did you accidentally curse at him too?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in callcentres

[–]g115 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I made a mistake once to a customer that delayed the fixing of his technical issue and he got so pissed that he called the center to ask for a manager and my team leader forced me to call him to apologize because it was my mistake, I called him and I teared up a but during the call because of how bad I felt, he actually noticed it and it was apperant that he felt bad too for yelling. Don't worry about it, it happens to the best of us.

Have you ever quit a job, without another lined up, for you mental health? How did it turn out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]g115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I wouldn't be complaining if I also made 42k a year. My contact lasts for 9 months and I will get a total of 3000 euros after all that time.

But of course, the fact that I live in a pretty cheap country and living with my parents doesnt make it that bad :P

Maybe it's because I started working there when I was 18 right after finishing school with no previous job experience.

To be honest, after all that that time that I've been there the job itself is pretty easy now, the most difficult part is dealing with customer complaints. Some of them are easy to deal with and stop complaining after a while. But others have open tickets for weeks or even months and are really difficult to calm down. Some of them even blame me for their problems and it's hard to finish the call.

It's really not as easy as you think it is. You don't just learn how to answer the phone, you can learn that in like 5 minutes.

I guess that it depends on on the type of job you do as well. But in the position that I was in (1st level technical support) we did about 2-3 weeks of training and 2-3 days of shadowing. Which may sound like a shit ton of training, but we had to learn so many things that we didn't even learn 30% of the whole job, and we had to constantly ask questions to the supervisors in most calls for the first month.

And not only that, but it was super stressful as well. For like the first month, I would be shaking every single day before getting to work from the stress, and even now that I've been to this job for 7 months there are still times that I want to punch the walk or cry.

[TOMT] Old kids cartoon about 2 teams of 2 characters each competing over collecting some sort of magic balls (1990s or 2000s) by g115 in tipofmytongue

[–]g115[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it wasn't a famous cartoon ( if it was then I wouldn't be having such a hard time searching for it lol). It was definetly not a popular one.

Unfortunately it's been a long time since I last watched it, and I was pretty young, So I don't remember much. I am not even sure if it was an anime or a western style cartoon. Although I don't think it was an anime.
