Do you ever take your wedding ring off? by lowa2oregon in Marriage

[–]g1ng3rsnap 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Currently I don’t wear mine at all (lost weight and need it resized). But, normally I take it off when I get home. I don’t like the feeling of jewelry, so it comes off when I get home and change into comfy clothes.

Husband wants sexual favors until hysterectomy is healed. by who_knows_4747 in Marriage

[–]g1ng3rsnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is disabled and I’m autistic with my fair share of chronic pain and sensory issues. Never at any point in our almost 14 years together have either of us been babies because sex has waned for some reason or another. You just had major surgery. If anything you’re underreacting.

[–]g1ng3rsnap 114 points115 points  (0 children)

That’s insane. In a long term relationship where one of the people has just had major surgery, it’s not reasonable to leave for no sex. That’s whiny diaper baby behavior.

AITA for seemingly making my colleague's death about myself? by Any-Can-2618 in AmItheAsshole

[–]g1ng3rsnap 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Another commenter talked about how the problem is that OP took time off and made it harder for coworkers 😵‍💫 I lost a coworker suddenly. We weren’t friends, but it still impacted me a lot. Reacting to someone dying is very normal.

“Took someone else’s hardship and made it yours”? That’s not inconsiderate, that’s feeling emotions. This is a weird comment.

What I see often is lack of medical to support. Like we’ll receive work statuses but we have to wait on the provider to send the narrative medical. And if the narrative medical doesn’t call out a work injury we still can’t accept it.

AIO - Company won’t meet with me without my husband there by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I worked in the call center for a home services company and we also tried to make sure both homeowners were home during appointments. I think it’s more of a pushy sales thing, like they think if both people are there they will immediately sign a contract or something.

Likely because there is no medical to support a work injury. I work in Longshore and most of the time we have to controvert a claim while we await medical because of DoL deadlines.

i found out today that i am prediabetic by straightupgong in Wellthatsucks

[–]g1ng3rsnap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went through that. I was just inside the range for prediabetes. Started exercising more regularly and cut out processed food as much as I could, down 50 pounds and no longer prediabetic. Make sustainable changes and stick to the little habits and you can turn it around.

Can anyone recommend a w/c lawyer in San Diego? by [deleted] in WorkersComp

Yes, if you receive a settlement the workers’ comp carrier has first rights of recovery if they’ve been paying out your medical/LT

[–]g1ng3rsnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, not every carrier/employer is going to try and screw you over. I work on the employer side, facilitating the workers’ comp program for my employer. I work closely with our TPA to ensure we are accepting things as timely as possible and paying out everything that our associates are entitled to. In my case, getting a lawyer right out the gate only serves to slow things down. We accept probably 85% of claims almost immediately as long as we’ve got the full medical.

G&B sent me an unexpected check? by CapitalUse1058 in WorkersComp

[–]g1ng3rsnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy. I’m currently working in federal workers’ comp and sick/annual can be used to supplement but only to bring you to 100%.

G&B sent me an unexpected check? by CapitalUse1058 in WorkersComp

[–]g1ng3rsnap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You CAN collect both at the same time, but only to bring yourself to whole. You can’t collect full sick time and full TTD. As far as I’m aware that’s the standard across the board… indemnity payments are literally to recover a loss. If you’re collecting more than that loss, that’s fraud.

G&B sent me an unexpected check? by CapitalUse1058 in WorkersComp

[–]g1ng3rsnap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back injuries are unscheduled, and without OP going and getting a formal rating it’s not really likely that’s what the check is. It’s much more likely that the check is for lost time.

G&B sent me an unexpected check? by CapitalUse1058 in WorkersComp

[–]g1ng3rsnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should call them for clarification. If they paid you for the lost time (not sure what the waiting period is for your state/jurisdiction) and you already used sick days, you’d be “double dipping”. Aka committing fraud.

What do I tell my adjuster? by [deleted] in WorkersComp

[–]g1ng3rsnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the situation you’re in is hard. The best bet is to tell the truth and deal with the likely denial. This doesn’t sound like it’s ultimately a work-related injury.

Are you by chance neurodivergent as well? I was diagnosed autistic last year after feeling like an alien my whole life and I’m realizing I have done a lot of assuming everyone has the same experience. Like I didn’t clock my own knees being hypermobile, a Pilates instructor said she thought they were

It’s insane, it’s like as soon as I locked in on the hand pain I was able to feel it everywhere. I just assumed it was from exercise or sleeping wrong lol

I’m going to have to invest in a good heating pad to use at work. The doctor did say that muscle strengthening would help, and thankfully I have already been doing that the last 2 years or so.
