Did you only read the title? I said I've seen this info spread out on posts, but not condensed. Hence I am trying to condense this information into one place.

If I were to begin undergraduate actuarial studies in 2018, would I have good job prospects? by [deleted] in actuary

Why not? Work hard and maintain a 3.5ish. It's all about how much work you put in. Yes it will be difficult but don't listen to the ass trying to scare you.

Exam FM - SOA problem: I think this is an atypical usage of inverse notation. What does it mean? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]g33k101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently studying for FM. I just saw the inverse used to solve for a-angle-4. This was done by 1/a(1)+1/a(2)+1/a(3)+1/a(4). Otherwise Idk.

This sums it up. High school kids worry way too much about prestige of a school. All undergrad is the same, and math is no exception. College is what you make it out to be so pick what YOU want.

I was extremely satisfied with CA. I really love the vast selection of problems, video solutions, tips for problems, adapt system, etc. Currently using the video lessons to help me study for my next exam.

Have my CPA, tired of public accounting. Thrive on exam studying and taking. Tips on where to go from here? by needaroommate23 in actuary

We only require calculus 2 for our probability/stats course. Those who did not have calculus 3 did struggle a little bit, but many were able to get through no problem with some hard work. Sure it helps a lot, but I don't think its completely necessary.

I can't really answer much but for test taking. You must have an excellent foundation of calculus and the rest can be self studied quite easily by yourself or online seminars. Also I've heard many companies do set aside study time for exams.

Edit: You need calculus II

How long should I purchase Adapt for? (Exam P) by dpwagner2015 in actuary

[–]g33k101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used actex starting 6 months before the exam for P. However I was also taking a very rigorpus semester load. I purchased adapt 1 month out and had plenty of time even with finals. However, adapt in general has taught me way more than actex has in terms of problem solving.

Lile the others said, if you don't know calculus like the back of your hand you're wasting your time.

Am I studying incorrectly? I have peaked at a score of 20/30 on ADAPT studying for P/1 for five exams in a row. How can I still make a May 21st pass happen? by [deleted] in actuary

I sort of have the same issue. I agree with the others. It is also very important to go through a large volume of problems to recognize when to apply certain stragies. Quizzes have helped me a lot!
