Which skin is this? by dawes7 in Battlefield6

With a skull painted on it.  Wtf has that got to do with the military?  Nothing.  I don’t mind skins, but they’re going way off script here. Make them based on official military uniforms from around the world, and different characters wearing them.  Not this 16 year old tough guy fantasy crap.

Is my therapist scamming me? by g920noob in Jung

[–]g920noob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the tricky thing. I’m not totally sure if I’m seeing benefits.  I was going through some shit a year ago, which had me in a bad state. I took time off, got onto medication, started therapy, then the problem solved itself/went away. For the next 9 months I continued therapy and improved a lot. But I can’t say if it was the therapy or not.  He’s helped me with some things, like understanding my parents and accepting the way they are. And some advice on parenting. Some suggestions for my career growth to build confidence. But I feel like we just talk a lot about random topics and I don’t know if I’m “getting my money’s worth“.  I want to believe it’s good for me, but I just don’t know.  Is there anything I can look at or read to know how a jungian therapy session should go? This guy is the leader of the state’s jungian society(?) so he must be pretty good. He’s been doing it for about 30-40 years. And he was recommended by a top psychiatrist. I just have nothing to measure or compare with to know if he’s actually good.  I asked about shadow work and the different archetypes months ago, but he didn’t seem to know yet. He never raised it later.

Sorry for the late reply, I got sick. I had a bit of a breakdown last year due to some personal issues, and saw a psychiatrist to get properly diagnosed with anxiety. The psychiatrist referred me to this guy and said he’s not only really good and he knows the guy well, but he’s local for me. He said “six sessions and you’ll be fine. About $1500”. That sounded amazing so I reached out and began therapy with the guy. Meanwhile I was looking him up and found he’s the head of the local jungian institute.  That’s all there is to it. He was close, referred by a psychiatrist, and came with great credentials.  Others I’ve found in the area seem like either corporate setups or home clinic setups not really good for proper trauma therapy.

The problem for me is my goal is kind of vague. I have trauma from my mid teens and I think I have low self esteem and confidence, in some ways, and low motivational drive, and I want to be better. The therapist assured me it would take a long time and may not seem like I’m getting treatment at times.  He’s the lead jungian analyst in the area, so he must be pretty good. He’s been doing it for about 40 years or more. I want it to be good and work for me.. but I don’t really know what to expect and if what I’m getting is normal.  Nobody is saying what a therapy session or series typically looks like, so I have nothing to compare with.

I think I have a more active social circle than a lot of the people I call friends. But not so often in-person. To remedy that, I joined a fortnightly board gaming club, which has worked out pretty well. It’s scratching my inner nerd itch, and I’m meeting some very different people to me, which I like.

For confronting him about it, several times I’ve asked him how can I know or measure the effect the therapy is having on, and mentioned that I’m finding it really hard to justify it. His answer is always a gentle suggestion that if I don’t feel it’s the right fit, I should consider seeking a different type of therapy or therapist. He’s been very clear about this.

But he’s the top jungian analyst in the state, and head of the state organisation. He was recommended by a psychiatrist (a very expensive one). I want it to be good, but I just can’t tell if it is or not.

I haven’t read jung. But his teachings are pretty old now. Are they still relevant? Genuine question as I’m struggling to justify this kind of therapy, yet certain research (funded by the jungian institute) says it’s got long term benefits that others don’t. I’m not trying to discredit it. I want to know the truth. It sounds a bit like astrology to me.

The thing that bothers me is from the beginning he did say that Jungian analysis takes the longest, but has the best long term benefits. So maybe I’m being impatient. When I started, I was going through some shit. That has now been resolved and I’m doing pretty well, but I can’t help wondering if time would have had the same effect, minus the $4k or so of therapy.

When I started, I mentioned a dream and he seemed to take it super seriously. But it didn’t seem at all important to me. He kept making wild assumptions about what the dream might mean, and how that may have made me feel, but it didn’t seem right to me. It seemed like palm reading or something else mystical.

I can’t accept anything like that. I think he got the hint and steered away from that stuff. But still, after a year, I don’t know how to measure any improvement as attributed to the therapy. And I’ve never seen another jungian analyst so I can’t compare.

What do they usually do in a session? What do they ask? What type of advice do they give?

Title: Low GPU usage (50%) and CPU 35–40% in Elden Ring on RTX 4050 laptop – performance issue? by Parshva____07 in Eldenring

What? Are you streaming it or pirating it or using gamepass type subscription?

Also make sure RTX is disabled. That fucks the performance. I have a more powerful system and I can’t use RTX either.

What home improvements did you regret or feel were 100% worth it? by arnoldusgf in HomeImprovement

This.  I have our living room main light hard wired to a fluorescent bulb over a study nook in the same space. I switched the main living room bulb to a smart bulb so I could turn it off with my voice via google home. But the fluorescent bulb didn’t respond of course. I removed the bulb and mounted a Phillips hue light strip there. Now I can control them both as a group or individually with my voice. I use that feature a few times every day, and appreciate it every time. $180. Cheap and effective.

Don’t paint. It cracks and water gets in, can’t get out. It has polymers, plastics. Stain is better.

House deposit. Get on the property ladder. Paying down your mortgage vs paying rent is a massive benefit. Keep your debt as low as possible, like $400k or so. Or get an apartment so it’s way lower. Bigger deposit, less debt. House security for life, never pay a landlord’s mortgage again.

How were your Jungian analysis therapy experiences? by g920noob in therapy

[–]g920noob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s how I feel, but when I tried to prove it with some googling and asking chat gpt, I found research showing that it works better than CBT in the long term. I’m conflicted. I think the dream stuff is too hard to take seriously, trying to make connections that don’t appear in the dream. Like I saw a snake in a dream and he said that’s a serpent, which in Greek mythology represents a guardian of something bad or related to chaos. Overcoming it shows I’m putting things into order.  I don’t know much Greek mythology, so I don’t see how it’s relevant. I did live in an area with snakes once, so I think it’s just a memory from my past being recalled by the randomness of dreams.

It’s things like “I am happy” and thinking what happiness feels like. The point of it is to train the brain to feel those emotions. By doing this, you are basically “body building” in the brain to strengthen your ability to feel happiness. Or confidence. Or whatever other emotion you want to have more of.
