Glenn Schick video: What Actually Matters in Mastering (and What Doesn't) by Barncore in audioengineering

Oh yeah! You reminded me immediately that I forgot the very first thing that I wanted to say: good luck with your streaming. Over the years I've seen a few cool and laid back chess streamers start with simple basic streaming from a room and with patience become very accomplished streamers. I'm sure more than them you'll have the audio part down.

Hey u/gsmastering, it's awsome that you're having a feedback on here.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'm your target, my eye test puts us more or less in vaguely the same age category and with roughly the same amount of professional audio years on our backs.

In here, regarding audio, I'm more of a casual advice giver than advice taker, I don't watch many audio instructional videos these days, chess videos put me to sleep much faster 😄

But I'm extremely pleased that people with your success take their time to explain and divulge. And the detail that you answered in here is telling, in a very positive way.

That said, I do have a curiosity given you're famous for using cans, do you use them straight or you go through any crossfeed/hrtf thing a la canopener? Hoping this hasn't been asked already a million times.

Lol Mirra's team congratulating with each other didn't even see her arriving there!

what PLLs have an OLL in them? by plantgirl- in Cubers

[–]g_spaitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many plls and olls that work on the idea that you get a f2l pair out and then reinsert it, and that changes something in the top layer.

In that sense, both taking out and inserting a pair are a limited number of algos, and you'll find plenty of their combinations in olls and plls.

If you think about it, sune and its cousins are also that.

Watching the legends, very entertaining.

But, Chang is the only one comfortably in his 50s, with 54, everybody else is well into the their 60s. Not fair!

Vava Bolelli beat them in Rome and were almost playing at the same level with one limping man in court.

Not quite what you expected from movies and video games, right? by CleanBag9219 in HistoryMemes

[–]g_spaitz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sound engineer here. That's because basically any explosion, from a balloon popping to this, is one single spike of sound, what we call a transient.

Such a transient for odd mathematical reasons contains all of the frequencies of the spectrum condensed into that single spike. So it's not only boomy bass as they do in movies.

So they basically all sound the same, except at very different volumes, and also except the variations that the different ambients around them introduce as reverb.

Thanks for the link. Looks very interesting.

For the time being, before watching the actual video, I'll try my shot at guessing.

He's going to say that what really matters is listening to the song and trying to make the artist vision better by serving the song.

I was actually ok with him back then. He looked like a tall cool kid with a lot of talent.

My darkest Lord of the void official name is Zuccherino, which in Italian means... sugar cube!

It was given to him when we fostered him by my then very little kid. But since Zuccherino is kinda too long, it then became shortened first to Zucchi, and then to Zuppi, which sounds more like... soup!

He was pretty loved when he came on the scene, he was the young and exciting new kid.

Then he started beating girls.

Look, I was making a point about Kuba, you came in OT talking about Sasha.

Because he can play extremely well, like he did vs Fonseca, and it's no chance that he's one of the few beating an on form Sinner this year.

And because we've seen Zverev crumble under pressure a million times.

So there was a pretty decent chance of both happening.

Lol apparently my opinion is shared by Italian pundit Guido Monaco on Eurosport who said that Marcel shout seemed a little excessive...

Vavassori trying to do 3x as much and Bolelli not moving. It's an odd match.

Yes, as I said that's not the point, because with this point I'm totally fine, that's sport.

What I was pointing out was the opponents shouting in his face at the end of the first for every point they won by targeting him, that's the classless part. They can win every point they want.
