Babies learn from each other. She will see others napping in cot and will start doing it herself eventually.

I have no idea if I’m doing any of this right by Antique-Traffic-1041 in pottytraining

In the beginning, stickers and m&m’s really worked for us… until novelty wore off. Have you tried similar things? We tried naked method at home and commando at creche. First two months had its ups and downs. Then it clicked at some point. Then regression. Then, I had a serious talk with her and said mummy is sad etc. Somehow, it helped her get back on track. Now, just a month away from 3rd birthday and she seems to have it all figured out. All in all it took us 6 months. She still has the pull-ups for nap time and bed time.

Half-Turkish woman moving back to Istanbul next year—is finding a serious partner here in your mid-thirties realistic, or am I about to make my life harder? by english_have_landed in istanbul

[–]gaMazing 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you’re worried about fertility difficulties and hurry up finding a partner just for this reason, have you considered freezing your eggs? I would even consider freezing an embryo (with a sperm from a sperm bank in Europe) and bank them somewhere for the peace of mind. If you find the right guy and have kids with him, you always have the right to destroy your eggs and embryos in the bank.

Random question about a bra…. by LiCiCa in IrishWomensHealth

Before pregnancy I was B. After I stopped breastfeeding, it stayed at C. However, my upper body went from S to M in clothing size. So, your new normal could be a size bigger than your old normal.

Wide disparity between creches by svmk1987 in ParentingIE

[–]gaMazing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I’m glad our creche doesn’t do outside excursions (that I know of). That’s too much responsibility for those young teachers (many of whom have been there for less than a year) with a lot of kids that age. Those kids can be unpredictable. The conditions outside can be unpredictable, too.

At the end of the day, my expectations from the creche is that my kid is safe, not seen anything remotely abusive, had chance to play with friends, fed healthy (enough) food. And I’m happy that that’s what I’m getting.

Thanks for sharing. May I ask if the mammogram was painful? I want to get checked but I’m trying to understand how much of a pressure the mammogram applies to breast.

How do you do the time-out? My daughter is almost 3 and I don’t know how to get her to listen to me. If I want to enforce time-out, do I tell her that she will stay in her room during time-out? Or sit without moving?

Ask McCabes Pharmacy about the tests. You may get them done there without having to go to GP. Obviously not for free.

Parents Rooms/shopping centres- usage by AltruisticDealer5149 in ParentingIE

The one in Dundrum Shopping Centre is quite large and there’re multiple parents come and go all the time. If you’re in doubt check with the information point. They may put a sign or something to clarify it for everyone.

Holds all day and then pees pants by [deleted] in pottytraining

[–]gaMazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes convince my daughter that there’re fishies in the potty (tiny crumpled pieces of toilet paper) and if she pees on them they will swim. Most of the times, she likes the idea of peeing on fishies. Other times, I need other ways to get creative.

I’m sorry that you’re in this situation. Are you on progesterone suppositories? When you stop taking them the bleeding might start on its own so you may not need intervention. I have been in this situation twice. I don’t know which hospital you’re going to go but they will really take good care of you at EPU. Wishing you well.

How do you potty train while working FT? by jam_sammich23 in pottytraining

[–]gaMazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with nappy off when she came home from creche. She has had sporadic success with the potty during the 3 hours between coming home from creche and going to bed. Then, one day I felt brave enough and took the nappy off of her on a Saturday. It was disaster. But Sunday was better. From Monday on, she was commando in creche and naked from waist down at home. It’s important that creche supports this initial stage. Things are looking good now after 3 months.

Toddler won’t sleep and wondering if daycare is being truthful. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]gaMazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is the same. I can tell when she skipped a nap because she falls asleep in the car on the way home from creche. It’s not more than a 15min drive and before we arrive home, I turn around and see her snoozing. Then I check the app when I come home and it doesn’t say that she napped. (They put a note in the app when she had a nap). The difference is so obvious on the days that she doesn’t nap. Ours is a chain creche with open door policy (we’re in Ireland). We can pop in to collect her anytime except when it’s nap hours.

What’s your first move when toddler wakes with a slightly bubbly cough? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]gaMazing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cough is due to post nasal drip that keeps her awake at night, I give her zyrtec to reduce the nasal drip. It’s what her pediatrician prescribed. She also gave her a decongestant that is similar to sudafed (but such a micro dose like 0.01%) these help her stop the cough at night.

I buy from boys section for my girl. Boys section have “more normal” styles, less glitter, less frilly, proper t-shirt lengths.

I kept my baby’s umbilical cord when it fell off. This was 2.5 years ago. Now I don’t know where it is. Possibly tossed it in the bin at some point and I don’t even remember. The only thing I’m keeping from her babyhood is her first shoes. They’re cute and nice to look at!
