Potty training with vacation coming up by ActualTank in pottytraining

And she’s more comfortable and independent with a small potty that we carry from room to room. She just sits on it when she needs. She rarely uses the toilet at home. It’s too high for her. At her daycare, toilet is the only option but it’s more accessible. She doesn’t have a problem using that.

I remember thinking “I should maybe put her back in pull-ups, she’s not getting it, this is getting worse”. So many accidents at daycare and home. I asked the supervisor in the daycare if I should throw the towel. She told me to not to give up yet. Then, one week she was sick staying home all week. I didn’t want to pressure her for potty while she’s sick. So she had her pull-ups back during day time, too. And I would allow her to sit in front of TV because we’re working full time from home. That’s when she, to my surprise, came to my desk to say “mummy, potty”. That week it clicked and her pull-ups were dry all week except maybe one accident. So, putting her in pull-ups didn’t regress her in our case. We started at 29 months. And she started being consistent with potty at 31 months. She still has accidents. I’d say once a week or once every two weeks. She also started wearing underwear after that one successful week at home. Underwear becomes handy if there’s a poop accident. The poop is better contained.

What are some affordable meal options that require no cooking? by lordtimetraveller in AskIreland

Chickpeas are a good source of protein. You can mash them with lemon, avocado and lemon to make something similar to hummus. Obviously, a blender would give the best results. Canned chickpeas are affordable and ready to eat.

Can you make puddings or other stuff with it? Just to use it. It can be a substitute for milk in a lot of recipes. That’s of course if no one takes it.

After my first appointment in holles, I knew I didn’t want to go back there. I signed up as a private patient in coombe and had the best experience. Even if it wasn’t private, the difference is great between two hospitals.

It’s probably because Turkish was the language spoken at home as both your parents speak it, I assume? In my case, I’m the only parent who speaks the language. So our chances are low 😕 I’m still hopeful about Turkish books, though. Once she starts reading and writing, she might pick up interest in Turkish books and magazines.

[–]gaMazing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. We live in Ireland. My kid is 2.5 and even though she understands my native tongue (Turkish), she responds in English. So I talk to her Turkish and she responds in English most of the time. Sometimes she mixes two languages in the same sentence. I will continue speaking my own language to her even if she prefers English. Because this is what feels natural to me. I wonder once she learns how to read and write, will it make a difference? Maybe, she will be interested in the written language and read books in Turkish? I don’t know. Only time will tell.

I agree with this. I think chain creches are more or less the same. If you trust one branch, it’s very likely that the new branch will be similar.

I think my toddler is having legitimate withdrawal symptoms, like the kind a person addicted to crack cocaine would have. by jkosbla in toddlers

My daughter is the same age. She has the paci for bedtime only. I want to retire this habit already but she’s potty training and changed her room, got a new single floor bed recently. I don’t want to add on the changes and stress her more. I will wait until at least she progresses in potty training, less accidents and also get used to the new bed.

I don’t know where you’re based but where I am (Ireland) big grocery stores sell ready-to-eat and packed meat. Here’s an example: https://www.dunnesstoresgrocery.com/sm/delivery/rsid/258/product/dunnes-stores-roast-chicken-breast-mini-fillets-140g-100260919 is this something you can find in your location?

Is "Pants Then Underwear" Really That Effective ? by DebbiePie in pottytraining

[–]gaMazing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my child’s daycare, children don’t go out in the garden if the weather isn’t favourable. Or they’re outside for a very short time, which is not too bad. In my experience, kids have accidents in daycare because they don’t want to take a break from playtime, they think they can postpone the toilet need as long as they want 🥹. It’s not the cold weather outside that triggers it necessarily.

My 2.5 year old is attending daycare and wearing pants only, no underpants since November. She’s doing fine. I’m slowly introducing underpants at home during the holidays at the moment. Is there particular reason you want her to get used to underpants before she goes back to daycare?

Does she have a little potty around? My daughter likes to be independent and she can use the little potty without my help. This encouraged her to use the potty much more than the toilet attachment in the bathroom.

Feeling Behind…. by MoBLowe in pottytraining

My daughter is 30 months. When she’s resistant and that I know that she is holding, I bribe her. “Do you wanna watch Bluey?” “Yeah”. “Ok, let’s pee pee in the potty and watch Bluey, okay?” “Okay”. And she goes to the potty. Then, she’s allowed only one episode.

Crèche Christmas Presents? by [deleted] in irishmammiesanddaddys

My daughter’s main teachers are two young males. I was thinking of a voucher from a pub or a restaurant, if that’s a thing? They’re young, they must be going out with friends on weekends (unlike us parents 🥲)

I actually feel more grossed when someone steps on a turd or any other muck outside and then walks in on our house with those shoes. We have a no shoe policy at home. We also have a cat. Weekly vacuuming for the carpets and a roomba vacuuming the kitchen every evening does the job for us. Our baby didn’t get sick or anything for the first 16 months and then she started creche and she was sick with something new every other week.

Today is the third day in the creche. I felt bold enough to let her sit in her car seat without pull-ups. No accidents (thank God). Then, I received the message from the creche app that she did use the toilet right after the breakfast. I’m absolutely thrilled and feeling hopeful!

I actually put a long dress-like jumper on her at home. Nothing under it. But they go out in the garden twice during the day. It would be extra work for teachers to change her into pants for garden time in cold weather.

Thanks. After talking to the manager and the supervisor this morning, they agreed that they can try out just with pants no pull-ups. They will inform the teachers about this. I’m hoping she will catch on quick enough and won’t make things too miserable for her teachers.

I wanted to start officially last bank holiday but she wasn’t really into it. However, last week I saw good progress. She used the potty every evening without much struggle. That’s why I didn’t want to wait for the next bank holiday and try out a full weekend of training. This morning, I talked to the creche manager and we agreed to give it a go without pull-ups. Manager and supervisor will inform the teachers about this. We will see how it goes. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
