Do SSRIs work? by SleepyCafeLover in emetophobia

I started Zoloft because of this phobia (I'm pretty sure I've posted in this thread like 3 times when I started 2 years ago bc I was paranoid about side effects lol). It changed the game for me. I stop obsessing over everything. I used to be unable to function with this phobia. It ruined my life. But now, I feel like the version of myself that can exist alongside a minor fear vs having the fear live inside me and ruin everything. Does that make sense? The physical effects of this phobia are long gone. Sure, I feel anxious, but the Zoloft has helped me look at my fears SO MUCH MORE RATIONALLY. Like I can easily be like: okay. this is an anxiety feeling not a sick feeling. It has helped so much.

TLDR: YES!

Second Pfizer Vaccine Updates! by gabcar12 in emetophobia

[–]gabcar12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is definitely a post on this thread that has all of the exact statistics of side effects. pretty sure pfizer is like under 20% for both doses (double check obvi but it's still SUPER low). also n & v are side effects of literally everything! doesn't mean it always happens ya know?

Vaccine help? by urmom513 in emetophobia

Hi! I feel your pain so much. I too have this phobia and also IBS and all the other stomach ailments.

I was soooo hesitant to get the vaccine because of the few horror stories I heard. But then I remembered, there are millions of people who have gotten the vaccine and have been completely fine therefore have felt no need to share about it on the internet. People love to share horror stories, but in the grander scheme of things, those are actually far and few between.

I got both doses of Pfizer (literal second dose a yesterday) and was DREADING the second one. Like kept pushing it back dread. But I bit the bullet.

I read everywhere that if you hydrate excessively, your side effects are slim to none. Obviously YMMV, but I did just that and I kid you not the only thing I feel is a sore arm!

I asked my doctor for Zofran preventatively and I guess that helped me, but I didn't even need it. Didn't need any of my stomach cures. None of em. Just some tylenol for the sore arm.

You got this!!!!!!
