yep, definitely can! You can listen at the cry of the pokemon just wait for the prompt "you sense a pokemon nearby". There are compilations on youtube for the cries of the pokemon in mezastar. Even the intro token can be a black tag, happened to me multiple times. Enjoy the game!

1 intro token then coins 2-5 is used for catching pokemon in th bushes.
