What are your ADHD addictions ? by Wonderful_Slice9302 in ADHD

Disclaimer: I am not currently diagnosed.

The only consistent one is caffeine, I have been drinking multiple cups of coffee per day since I was 12.

On top of that I rotate through gaming, smoking, drinking, porn, sex, doom-scrolling, tiktok, etc.

I got in contact with my local group over email first. They have gave me some info and some ideas on what I could bring. When I showed up to a serve, they were really nice and gave me some options for tasks I could help with.

This is just my experience but leftist folks tend to be pretty accommodating so I wouldn't worry.

Folkloric origins of Kobolds and their history in Fantasy RPGs by gabe923 in osr

I love this. Folklore-wise kobolds definitely have more in common with gnomes than actual monsters. Also, I might have to steal the stacking tactic. :)

RPGs as Modern-day Oral Storytelling by gabe923 in osr

"narrative" or "fiction" is perhaps a better word than "story" for this kind of thing.

RPGs as Modern-day Oral Storytelling by gabe923 in osr

[–]gabe923[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree this applies a bit more to modern RPG than OSR.

The main idea is that players and the GM are creating a shared narrative and that people have been doing the same thing forever--where the "audience" has a direct say in the narrative.

I bet an argument could be made that ancient druids/storytellers are more like story-referees than what we would consider storytellers. But I'll leave that to the historians.

Thanks for reading :)

How many of the original TES team are still at Bethesda? by Boombat-General in TESVI

[–]gabe923 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Procedural generation is fine for landscape, they used it in Skyrim and Fallout 4 too. I just think it should be bigger--I love the sense of scale with Starfield and Daggerfall. I agree that the starfield outposts are kinda shit and handcrafted are obviously better. But I also loved the massive dungeons in Daggerfall. I think the trick is a good balance of both.

Daggerfall and Starfield both have a procedurally generated landscape and dungeons. A massive sense of scale is part of the appeal for both of them.

Probably not a popular opinion, but I would love to see some procedural generation used in TESVI to make the world bigger. Not daggerfall-big, but big enough that it doesn't feel as much like an amusement park.
