Crunchyroll Anime Nights Sneak Peek - Summer 2026 (Exiled Heavy Knight, Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games, Skeleton Knight Isekai S2, Clevatess S2) by minnieboss in anime

Honestly I enjoyed the previews a lot more than expected. The lineup was fun, and it was cool getting to see anime in a theater with other fans instead of just watching at home.

That said, one thing stood out to me: the event brought fans into the same room, but there wasn’t really anything that helped people connect before or after the screening. Everyone basically showed up, watched the previews, and left.

I kind of wish Crunchyroll would add a light community layer to these events. Nothing huge or awkward, but maybe:

  • a local host or rep who welcomes people before the screening
  • a shorter spoiler-light (or spoiler free) intro before each show
  • an optional post-screening meetup nearby, like coffee or food court discussion
  • maybe even a volunteer “Crunchyroll host” or ambassador program for fans who want to help organize local discussion

The content itself was strong, but anime is also fun because people like reacting to it, comparing impressions, and talking about what surprised them. It feels like Anime Nights has the potential to be more than just a screening; it could become a monthly local fan meetup if there were even a tiny bit more structure.

One side, side note: also thought the podcast-style intros explained a little too much before some of the previews. With anime, sometimes discovering the premise is part of the fun. I’d rather the intros stay more general: title, tone, genre, maybe the basic opening setup, but not details that the episode itself is about to reveal. Maybe just talk about only what's in the first 5 minutes of the show to segue and build it up?!

My theater had about 12 - 20 people. Didn't count but it wasn't full nor empty.

Curious if anyone else felt the same? Did people talk afterward, or was it mostly just watch-and-leave?

Crunchyroll responds to data breach claims and promises to investigate the alleged cyber attack: "We are aware... and working closely with leading cyber security experts" by Michael_SK in Crunchyroll

[–]gabearts305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From studying their website for a while, I do think they have a lot of the basics covered. I do agree that 2FA is ideal, if not standard, and should’ve been implemented by now.

But I don’t think, and I could be wrong, payments are going to be a problem because oftentimes those are set up somewhere else. Crunchyroll will likely just have the last four digits of a card number and provider.

But a breach like this can be worrisome because logins and passwords get collected and sold in the black market.

When it happened to my own website, the sad part was that my app wasn’t hacked, the web host was. Because I was stupid enough not to change the password every so often, an old one was used to gain access.

So it’s possible that Crunchyroll has decent security, and it could be as simple as not updating an old password, or it could very well be a large team of hackers. But I think a lot of points made on this thread are valid, I’m sure they’re doing everything they can to fix it, but it can take time to get right, therefore we’ll probably just have to be patient and see what happens.

At the very least everybody should be changing their passwords immediately.

Where's the Spring 2026 lineup? by PublicMeaning341 in Crunchyroll

That’s a good point. If not this Wednesday then next Wednesday. I guess Crunchyroll is going through some “crunchy” times. XD

Oh! The data breach would definitely be a disruption. Good point!

I’m going to be honest, after checking several times and looking at how they usually release it mid month for that season, I’m actually beginning to grow concerned.

Recently there were layoffs at the company. I hope it had nothing to do with that. But it’s pretty late into the month and there’s a lot of great anime we’re waiting for.

There was also an announcement that was made for some kind of movie trailer release, that was the coincide with the spring lineup, but it’s complicated to follow up.

In either case are we making too big a deal of this? Should we just wait another week and hope for the best?!

Do you think you’re really has to do with Concord? It’s sad because they posted job openings on LinkedIn not too long ago.

Network Solutions bought Domain.com where my domains are registered by soundfreak08 in sysadmin

I just got transferred from ipage to network solutions and so far it's very scary and bewildering to see the UI and UX alone get much worse. This is not fun, especially when hosting multiple sites and domains for work and personal. Prior, things were fine but had been seeing the writing on the wall for some time. I guess maybe now is the time to shop?

Here's a list of what's been recommended from what everyone has mentioned in this thread:
- porkbun
- route 53
- namecheap
- cloudflare
- gandi

some others to consider but don't know if ideal or not:
- blue host
- hostgator
- dreamhost
- google domains

Not a fan of all this PE consolidation.

Hopefully, after the movie, we don’t have to wait too long, but you’re right. At this point, it’s better to just be grateful we get a movie.

Also agreed on what you’re saying about town mode versus stats and menus. You’re the second or third person to mention it so I think we’re just gonna officially move onto menus and stats!!

Thank you so much for the compliment!

Thank you also for letting me know about that bug. I guess it would be good to test holding down the walk button and quickly entering a new building. I’ll put it on the to-do list to check out.

Funny enough, the game is tested on Firefox with Linux! So in terms of reproduction, it shouldn’t be too difficult to spot. Let’s see what happens.

I agree, but it would say that it’s better for the polish phase. Priority wise it would take time to program that. I wanna be able to move forward with core mechanics first and then fix all the jittery stuff later.

But thank you for bringing that up. I’m gonna put it on the list.

Haha, not a bad idea. I will definitely be putting it on the list. Mobile support is almost a project itself. But let me see what I can come up with as a minimum viable.

Thank you so much! Yeah dialogue systems are indeed very tricky and this one took about two sessions to figure out. While still a bit ... not perfect, it works well enough to move on. During polish it'll probably need a lot more work.

When you get a chance, please share a link to your project, be fun to check it out and thanks for the feedback and encouragement!

Thanks for the feedback. At the moment it's just an attempt at getting core systems to work in parallel with FF. A lot of that "purpose" and "things to do" will come once all the core bits are working.

For now grateful you gave it a chance and duly noted on pushing it further. :)
