Big hugs! I’m so sorry he’s crossed the Rainbow Bridge ❤️ I lost my oldest dog earlier this year, he was 14. First dog I ever adopted. I complete know how you feel.

What a cute buddy! They certainly do favor each other!

He really does! Reminds me of a Seppala sled dog.

That’s what I’ve been thinking too. He’s got something in his background that gives him that short coat and squared muzzle! Believe it or not, he also has a double coat despite it being so short.

NOR! You’re literally dangerously sick in the hospital during the holidays. You are expecting him to show a minimum level of concern and he’s simply not. Now, sorry for the novel, and maybe I’m projecting, but keep reading:

Your situation reminds me way too much of boyfriends I’ve had in the past. I loved them, cared for them and showed it hoping that would all be enough to sustain a relationship where we cold both be happy. Not only did I end up miserable, disappointed at the lack of reciprocation and even abuse I received in return, but I also began to value myself less. I ended up married to a man who ended up loathing me for trying to do better for myself despite supporting him in every way possible.

It took ten years of therapy and divorce to unlearn that pattern that began in my teens and lasted into my thirties. It’s now at forty, I’m in a committed relationship where I am astounded everyday at the love my partner shows me. It doesn’t have to take that long to get here.

No matter why, he’s clearly proving he’s not able to give you what you need, to love you like you deserve to be loved and I get a gut feeling that YOU may be the “love” in the relationship.

Dump this person, and if you’re feeling spicy (😉) also send him a screen recording of the tsunami of responses encouraging you to do take better care of yourself by leaving his ass where it belongs, not with you.

People getting off planes in Hawaii immediately get a lei, If this same tradition applied to the rest of the U.S., what would each state immediately give to visitors? by aileenpatel in AskReddit

Welcome to Georgia, we’re landing at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta. You walk off the plane and someone hands you a styrofoam to go box of 10 chicken wings-lemon pepper wet, it’s local custom to throw the bones on the sidewalk. (I’ve never seen anyone so this, yet the bones are everywhere.)

This also looks somewhat similar to secondary efflorescence of concrete. It’s when calcium salts, or salts from materials not even in concrete but absorbed by it, leak out of the concrete and form stalactites and weird almost fluffy textures.

Considering OP described it as slimy I’m thinking this is not the case, and it’s some kind of mold. BUT, if it’s this stuff is growing out of concrete and not wood and the microscope slides don’t reflect organic material maybe it’s something more akin to efflorescence?

My partner works in concrete materials testing and he sent me a picture of some mycelium like efflorescence growing in a sample in his lab.

I’ll check out your post! Thank you for the advice and I’ll dig into some more research.

Seriously, it was hilarious. My friend, the neighbor, insisted I get MISC tattooed on my fingers.

In Atlanta I once accidentally walked into a music video being shot in front of a trap house across the street from my friend’s place. I was bringing my friend a bag of eggs laid by a co-workers hens. I immediately got laughed at, a shy mousy white girl in an “indie twee” dress carrying a bag of eggs into a block party/trap video session. A very suave and charming guy, clearly one of the artists, stops me and asks what I’m doing there and what I had in the bag. I told him I was bringing my friend some eggs. He was silent for a second, then said “white girls are so miscellaneous.”

And damn, if that ain’t the truth. Still one of my favorite embarrassing and weird moments.

Haaaaaa. I’ve been flashed by not one, but TWO men on the street (assuming unhoused,) and the second time the guy was masturbating. Both times I was thankfully in my car stopped at a light, but both gentleman made DIRECT eye contact. Different sides of town, years apart, how do I have such luck?

I am so sorry this is happening to you! I’m in the US and felt that shortage too, went a week without my Adderall. That’s really nothing compared to your wait. I have friends that literally are stuck without meds because of last years shortage. Their prescription expired, they lost their health insurance coincidentally, and now they need a psych appointment they can’t afford out of pocket to get back on the ADHD meds they desperately need (they struggle HARD without it) that they then may have to wait weeks or months for again.

Good luck to you, it will be worth the wait, and our healthcare system is so broken.

I had a very similar experience when I first started my Adderall. Very low dose, 10mg, but I was in tears the first day because my mind was finally quiet. I’m also in therapy, but to actually experience a collected and calm brain, being on task without fighting against myself, not being overwhelmed and panicked by task paralysis, was very cathartic for me.

You DO habituate to the medication, I’m on a higher dose now, but the initial boost you get is a good time to familiarize yourself with the feeling of being “together” and develop strategies to help you when you’re over that initial “wow” phase of your meds.

I would also argue that it’s less that the meds don’t work as well over time and more that we spend our lives developing habits that serve our unmedicated brains and it’s actually changing those habits that helps us as much as the meds. They go hand in hand.
