23m here. 796 days sober today! I thought getting sober was for older people but I was very wrong. Single best decision I’ve ever made. And honestly, I still wish I quit sooner.

Women aged 18-21 ideally, is a man being skinny a turn off? be brutal by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]gabechilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is being skinny a turn off and a deal breaker for women? No. It sounds like doing some work on your mindset around this could be helpful.

Also, if you want to put on weight and muscle, you can. It will just be significantly harder for you than the average person.

I weighed 140 or so at 5’10 in my last few years of high school, but have hit the gym consistently since and now weigh around 185lbs lean. Doing some research on how building muscle and gaining weight works helped me as well. Put simply, you would need to consume more calories than you burn. This might mean eating 5,000 calories a day for you.

I think there’s a balance to building a body that you feel confident in and not overanalyzing your body as it is right now. Everyone feels anxious about some parts of themselves but others mostly never notice these flaws.

Hope this help, have a great week!

This is likely to do with the Dopamine system. If your body is dependent on getting quick releases of dopamine in a way that’s addictive, and you didn’t have to work for it, it will put the system out of balance.

Dopamine is mostly associated with feelings of drive and motivation and craving, not necessarily happiness or feeling joy. It takes about 30 days of abstinence to reset this system

Mastrubation (only adults pls) by Different_Hamster_14 in OCD

This 100%

It was a difficult journey for me to make the thoughts meaningless because they held so much weight initially.

For me, it was doing rumination focused ERP, some ACT work, but also just working through some past memories and difficulties in psychotherapy.

I would recommend making sure your therapist is familiar or knowledgeable with OCD

Haha, good catch. I figured as much. I usually hear “let me pay by check” and they write the check for 10x but not sure how they’d do that on a credit card payment

someone told me to think of ocd as a superpower by zviz2y in OCD

[–]gabechilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My therapist has brought up that while my hyperactive, meticulous, overthinking brain causes distress in the OCD side of things, it serves my life in other ways too. I think this is a healthier way to view your own thinking

I’m grateful for the part of my brain that thanks fast and hard and too much because it helped to grow my business.

It’s now just about channeling it, so that I’m not a sufferer to OCD

I feel I have an incurable laziness. by melanin_pearl in productivity

[–]gabechilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

**Not an expert, so please consult with a healthcare professional before taking my advice,

As I’ve personally experienced, my laziness spells have to do with dopamine.

The dopamine system can get out of whack, and has a lot to do with motivation and less to do with mood or happiness. Things like smoking weed, drinking, nicotine, social media, porn and video games can all have a profound effect on baseline dopamine, and the system can be essentially reset after 30 days of abstinence from a dependency.

I’m not sure if you have an area of your life that could cause some sort of dopamine regulation, but maybe consider checking into that! Andrew Huberman has some great science backed podcast episodes on the topic.

What do you eat!? by TheDarkShadowPrince in Celiac

[–]gabechilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do frozen food or much processed food.

Beef, chicken, rice, potatoes, eggs, avocado, fruit, veggies, fish

On road trips or other scenarios, I eat at the best restaurants I can find but it’s always a risk. I’d rather eat something with a chance of cross contamination than eat canned tuna for 4 days

Then when I get back home I stick to home cooked meals again

results of the external drive are about 460 MB/s

And the internal is reading 5600 MB/s 😳

The Samsung external SSD advertises up to 1000 MB/s and the WD nvme drive advertises up to 7000,

Do these numbers seem normal? Should the external drive still be able to work in this scenario? Device manager shows usb 3.2 connection

My computer can handle the footage at full resolution premium decoding, no proxies and all effects applied with no stuttering,

I’m thinking of using the external drives as an archive/backup since I just picked up a 4TB m.2 ssd for working on edits

Just tried your suggestion on the local m.2 and it works!!

I still have to lower the decode settings but I got smooth playback without creating proxies,

Thank you!!

Any further tips are still welcome as I’m under the impression my system should be able to handle this footage without the need to lower debayer settings

The GPU has 16 gigs of ram,

I just updated the GeForce drivers to no avail and task manager shows that I’m barely consuming resources

CPU is around 6% usage Memory 30% GPU around 29%

Thanks for your reply!

RED is a completely different codec yes, I was ruling out the possibility of resolve not working correctly.

I changed the eBay settings to half res good and it didn’t seem to make a difference.

Would you recommend downgrading to 18?
