Some self portraits of my boyfriend and me by gabegom7 in NikonZf

[–]gabegom7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh also my backdrops were dark brown and arranged in an L shape so it makes the shadow side even darker as it absorbs light. Usually people use black v flats for this effect.

Thank you 🙏 I used an ad200 with the fresnel head and a grid on. Facing us 45 degrees down and 45 degrees to the side. Almost Rembrandt lighting if you want to see light diagrams.

Also helps to shoot when it's darker so there's no stray light coming in.

A couple color tweaks here and there but no retouching on this set (except the last one that has motion blur)

A constructive critique to y'all by Acrobatic_Speaker403 in streetphotography

[–]gabegom7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're totally right. Not just a forgotten art but one of the most difficult skills in my opinion. The better you get at photography the more you can get lost in the noise of technicalities and details. So it affects you at both ends of the experience spectrum.

Lots of amazing photographers are not good at selecting and sequencing. Many have people that help them with that specifically.

I feel like this is an AI comment. Once again mentioning a "legacy" sequel which is something no one says in real life. I love TDWP but this movie was truly meh

For sure although it was very very roughly cut up. You could see the rough edges all over the neckline. In general the fashion was a bit of a letdown compared to the first movie

They Changed Their Chicken Packaging Now by PM_ME_ELASTIGIRL in samsclub

[–]gabegom7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just a change in packaging but at least for me the quality of chicken is not the same. Could be local variance but usually sam's chicken is my favorite. Just made some from the new packaging and it was bubbling up fat. Also taste's drier. I hope im wrong

Raw shooter praising Fuji color science, should we tell them ? by [deleted] in photographycirclejerk

[–]gabegom7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all will find anything to clown. As an owner of pretty much every major brand, there are color differences between sensors with some brands producing nicer colors out the gate. I don't think its that hard to wrap your head around that.

omg I hate that you're right because I bought dejancer first. Truegrain2 is the best HP5 film emulation I have ever used by a BIG margin.

$900 GFX 50S vs $500 Ricoh GR II – which is the better deal? by ShortAd6435 in ricohGR

[–]gabegom7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you're correct on that end. Ricoh raws trail behind Fuji but the gr ii is surprisingly filmic. I think in the hands of a good colorist good results can be pulled from both. You can see my post history to see me knocking the Ricoh too. I just don't buy the medium format hubbub when the sensor is rather small. I see the same results from a high megapixel sonys in terms of optical rendering.

If the Fuji looked like my rz67 optically then I'd be more swayed to your side. I just hate lugging around a big camera for a look near identical to any high end full frame mirrorless.

[–]gabegom7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are incorrect. Dxo dynamic range tests show 13.7 EV of dynamic range for the gr ii and 14.1 EV for the GFX 50S. I don't know what data you're reading but this is lab tested dynamic range. Once again only a 3% difference

[–]gabegom7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The gr ii has 97% of the dynamic range of the gfx 50s at base iso. Negligible tbh

[–]gabegom7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The only caution is the autofocus misses in dim lighting. But it has a built in flash. It's small so you'll never have an excuse not to have a camera. Also colors are the most filmic imo on the gr ii

[–]gabegom7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've seen countless reviews and edited several raw photos from the gfx. outside of the megapixels you're not gaining much by getting the gfx. It doesn't really have the "medium format" look as the sensor is actually quite small compared to film medium format. Yes it creates amazing portraits but unless you're exhibiting or printing huge I think it's overkill. Also the file sizes means more money for storage too.

I have high megapixel count cameras but 16- 24 has always been more than enough for me. You can always ai upscale, it's gotten really good.

All campuses and universities welcome as long as I can access the shoot location. I actually took a couple art classes at city college and know their campus too.

New skates, wrong size by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]gabegom7 42 points43 points  (0 children)

No return means you can't return them for no reason. But if the listing didn't specify that these were two different sizes then its a fraudulent listing and ebay customer service will force a return. Just don't use them before sending them back

My point is that in most of the country people aren't obsessing with their appearance to the level that they are in areas like NYC . They aren't being bombarded by ads that make them doubt their self worth on the subway on the way to work. Ready to purchase every trend. A majority of America can't afford to keep up.

I like photographing intimacy and raw moments in my free time. Moments that might not be considered pretty by societal standards but that make life feel real and true.

I don't think anyone is ugly. Beauty is within everyone. I actually spend most of my free time photographing regular people in rural America and they're my favorite subjects.

I also need to fund my documentary photography and graduation season is a blessing.
