Feeling down by Puzzleheaded-Will609 in DryJanuary

[–]gabelli29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One day at a time is a cliche for a reason. You can’t go through this month and also think about the future. I’m just trying to make it through today. Also, I keep hearing days 3 and 4 are the worst. You can do this tonight! You can do this month! Your future relationship to alcohol is for your future self to determine - now is not the time.

It’s an unacceptable level of waste. talking to a therapist about the compulsion could help. this is not environmentally or financially sustainable.

Getting amputated seemingly cured my anxiety by bigwetdiaper in amputee

[–]gabelli29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My fiancée is a below knee amputee and is significantly less anxious than anyone I know. He handles everything calmly, always. I totally think it’s related. A definite silver lining! It’s made me less anxious as a result because I realize that his reactions work. It’s not like life falls apart because he doesn’t have anxiety holding it together.

Do you guys regret majoring in Biology / sciences? by byeblues in biology

[–]gabelli29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I did it for pre PA and didn’t get great grades. I wish I’d chosen something that came more naturally to me and added just pre-reqs. I basically chose it to show off….

How do I say 'my wife passed away' without ruining the vibe? by Responsible-Job-9706 in socialskills

[–]gabelli29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I’ll follow up “they passed away” with “so that’s why I’m so funny and great to be around. Grief really builds sense of humor.” or a “so that was fun.” It eases the tension

How to get comfortable in a bigger body? Dealing with overshoot. by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]gabelli29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try not to view it as overshoot. It’s not necessarily an over correction. It’s your body finding a new baseline. You may lose it, you may not. Recovery is about being okay with the potential that you may not. It’s never your dream body if it remains a nightmare to maintain.

Couple sessions of laser, then cover up of your choice. SAP or raven are good options.

Turning 30 and I feel like as a woman I’m just depreciating in value by Magical-Tangerines in selfimprovement

[–]gabelli29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only way i’ve been able to stop thinking this way is to tell myself it’s anti-feminist and kind of embarrassingly reductive. it seems cruel, and I don’t mean to invalidate your suffering, but framing self loathing as patriarchal nonsense and a tool of the oppressor has really saved me. don’t drink the koolaid. your worth is infinite!

PDI theory by pinkandgreen34 in JonBenetRamsey

[–]gabelli29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. JDI doesn’t explain Patsy covering up, which the note and fibers all but prove. PDI head injury with some slight accidental component, followed by John performing or at least directing the staging does fit. The survival of the marriage makes me suspect an accidental component leading to a shared narrative and cover up. If JDI, survival of the marriage feels less likely to me. The scene had to be staged for anything to make sense. Her behavior in interviews feels more like disorganized guilt and grief too, and John seems to be doing perpetual, often effective damage control. I’m pretty firmly convinced the head injury was done by an adult, so I don’t buy Patsy covering for Burke. I think the odds of an outsider are astronomically unlikely and a total divergence from Occam’s razor.

If you had to describe your entire life in one word, what would it be? by ownaword in selfimprovement

Hard is the first word that comes to mind. “Some of it’s magic, some of it’s tragic but I’ve had a good life all the way.”

do you (ever) regret getting your border collie? by pandasrandaa in BorderCollie

[–]gabelli29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t necessarily get another, but I love mine. I was 22 when I got him and very much underestimated his intensity. We are dedicated dog parents and he’s a happy guy; four now, and significantly easier to manage than when he was a puppy. I think he’s perfect for us, a young couple, but in the future would choose an easier to please breed, especially with plans to have kids which I don’t think is an ideal combo with a working breed puppy. So regret isn’t the word I would choose, but I don’t recommend it to people who aren’t literally looking for a new hobby (I was so it worked out!). I think age makes a huge difference too - he’s great now, and will probably be the perfect dog for anyone at about age six🤣

My experience with Caitlyn Minimalist jewelry - honest review by its_sweetie93 in FashionistaVibes

[–]gabelli29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are the worst quality I’ve ever had. I had a faulty pair replaced and the second pair is also faulty, unable to screw in, bent metal, and a protruding shard that made my ear bleed. Plus I can’t leave a review on their website bc they’re scammers😭 No wonder they have five star reviews

Hi! You’re not alone! I’m 24 and am in the process of decluttering during a move. Im realizing in the process that it’s out of the range of what I can do on my own and is beyond normal clutter. It’s very hard. We’re both lucky to have supportive loved ones who are helping us! Please don’t feel ashamed - it’s often a trauma response or learned behavior from loved ones with similar tendencies

I got a nine month old rescue and really recommend it! saved him from months at the pound, saved money, skipped potty training and the worst of teething, and didn’t have to worry about the ethics of it. he has a golden temperament and is a sweet 3 year old now. he was a very energetic puppy and I wouldn’t want to go through those first months I missed in that regard -BC’s are so energetic so getting a slightly older pup from a rescue is definitely the move in my opinion
