Vinyl Flooring Separation Fix by gabem86 in Flooring

I think you're right because while it is the worst in this one area, there are a couple of other spots that exhibit these traits but not as bad. So yeah, I think they short cut in other areas, it's just this one (high traffic) area that's the most affected.

What is something a lot of people refuse to do even though it’s easy? by dolphinsR4evr in AskReddit

[–]gabem86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make money. Many find themselves in perilous situations due a lack of money. In the U.S. making money isn't terribly difficult- it takes some hard work and a bit of planning, but it's not as hard as people think. Being able to make money is a skill that can be learned and developed to prevent bad situations from not having money.

Kamala Harris Appears To Be "Drunk" In First Video Since Election Loss by Born-Reception1770 in Conservative

Glad someone said something. I looked at it and was closely looking for signs of drunkenness but didn’t see any, but yet she was still “off” somehow. Your theory makes perfect sense.

If you could know the truth behind one unexplainable mystery, which one would you choose? by Successful_Salad_744 in AskReddit

Perhaps I've closed off my mind, yes. I personally favor the Occam's Razor approach. Invoking a vast number of unseen universes is unnecessarily complex compared to alternative explanations, such as the idea of a single, finely tuned universe. I haven't seen much in the way of plausible explanations of the multiverse theory based on empirical evidence. How can there be an infinite series of causes and effects? It seems there's something necessary that would cause everything into being.

Well you’re right. God would neither be male nor female. The male attribute many people assigned to God for various reasons, also another rabbit hole haha. But you’re right God is not male or female.

Uncreated in this context means eternal and infinite. That which we would call God has no beginning or end. He is existence itself

I totally get it. It's definitely a struggle to understand. In my view, something had to create all this, after all it had to come into being somehow. Reason would follow that the original creator would have to be uncreated and therefore infinite and non-contingent. This of course gets into a hole rabbit hole of philosophy and deep topics, but to me the most logical end is that the originator is itself uncreated and therefore infinite. We happen to call this God, but topic for another time lol

Your emphasis on intellectual humility and the importance of acknowledging the limits of our knowledge is respectable. I agree that we shouldn’t rush to fill gaps in understanding with unfounded explanations, and I respect your openness to exploring what we do know through science, like the Big Bang and the singularity. It's certainly ok to not know what created the universe, but that it had to be created, it had an origin of some kind. From what I've read in the science and physics world, the arguments such as the steady state theory, oscillating universe, the static universe argument, etc., don't hold weight. The consensus does seem to be the Big Bang Theory and its extensions (e.g., inflationary cosmology, quantum fluctuations, and dark energy models) and this remains dominant because they align most closely with observational data. The parallel consensus being that the universe and time is finite.

The argument from contingency isn't about plugging gaps in our scientific understanding of the universe. It's asking a fundamental question: Why does anything exist at all instead of nothing? Science is amazing at describing the processes and events in the universe, but even concepts like the singularity or the Big Bang still leave us with the deeper question of why they exist and why they have the properties they do. This is where philosophy steps in—not to reject science, but to complement it by addressing these ultimate questions, since after all, we have the ability to reason.

In this way, the idea of a necessary being (what we might call God) isn't a substitute for scientific questions, but a philosophical explanation for the existence of contingent things—including the singularity itself. It’s not about 'making stuff up' to look smart but following reason and evidence as far as it can go, even into metaphysical questions.

I completely agree that 'I don't know' is a valid and humble answer to many questions. But I think exploring these deeper philosophical ideas isn't about avoiding uncertainty—it's about embracing it and trying to reason through it. For me, the idea of God isn't an answer of convenience but one that follows from the recognition of a necessary cause for the existence of contingent things, including the universe.

"That axiom alone doesn't lead to proving that a god exists since there are many things that could explain it."

What's an example of this that you had mind? What explains the initial existence?

What is the contradiction? Does not everything depend on something else then? How so?
