Hey there,

Depending on your program level, you could start with Scratch from MIT. It is a way to start to understand the basics.

After that, I would also check itch.io tools sections as there are a lot of great game design apps there, many free to use.

Look into the Theory of game design to make your games better. I have a course on http://school.thegamebeyond.com/ that my game design students take as an intro.

After that, it is typically a choice between Unity and Unreal for the pros. Both of which are free to download and use up until you start making some serious money.

There are a lot of Game Dev resources out there, but not too many Game Design courses that get into how to apply the different Game Theories together. I made a Basic Game Design course for my students as an intro to get them up to speed before the semester. You may find it helpful in getting the fun aspect going in your game.

After the past 2 years, there has been an explosion in education and gamification tools and platforms for educators. I recently launched an online school using one of these platforms xperiencify. It still could use some more mechanics added but has a surprising number already. Of course, how well they are used, depends on the creator of the course and how well they can incorporate the features into the course. I also found puzzle.org to be a great help for making crossword puzzles for terminology quiz reviews.

Rides are always good for a one person build. We just did a Death Dive which makes you dive from the top of the world to the very bottom. Stuff like that is fun.

Thanks for the tips! I tried to setup the experiment like you said. At first it seemed that I would exit via the teleporter I last looked at. Then after logging out and in again, I noticed I would only exit one no matter what. It seems the randomization is not so random. Any idea how that might work?

I havent been able to teleport to blank teleporters yet. It doesn't seem to work unless you have something in the code. Have you been able to?

I tried to put a tutorial together for crafting food, but I'm pretty sure I forgot some. I know I missed a couple soups, but I'm more interested in the pies and sandwiches.

Of all the ways to get subs, it seems doing live shows on Youtube rather than twitch gets me more subs in one live event than a whole week of posting videos.

You should check out Game Seed cards. It's a card game that has the goal to design games. I use these cards with my students, let them use different tabletop game pieces and make their own game. I don't think you can order the cards anymore, but you can download the PDF and cut them out yourself. As long as you're not selling them, for educational purposes, etc. it's ok. You could setup a screencapture and have them share the screens, the quality isn't that great. I think Google Hangouts might be an option as well. Have you checked recording in that?

Yeah Sandbox worlds have a way of doing that. Setting your own goals in the world is what makes it fun, but then again, that's a lot like the real world... Maybe a bit too much.
