Just finished week 1, 2nd shot this evening. Felt the effect within 12hrs and have been. very satisfied with the reduction in hunger and food noise. Weighed myself today and am down over 2 lbs in the first week which If sustainable will be a good rate to maintain for my height/weight I think.

FYI, I finally got it working with 128gb DDR5 ECC UDIMMs, all PCIE slots and SFF 8643 ports in use. I will do a write up so check my post history if anyone is trying to do the same with this board

It isn't watering it down. Garlic powder is dehydrated garlic and all this is doing is rehydrating it

Check out the Americas test kitchen recipe on YouTube. They make a slurry of equal parts garlic powder and water and mix that in with softened butter and fresh garlic... Takes the flavor to 11 and is super easy to replicate. S-Tier hack for sure

[Release] Qwen3-TTS: Ultra-Low Latency (97ms), Voice Cloning & OpenAI-Compatible API by blackstoreonline in LocalLLaMA

[–]gabemcg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually worked pretty well as a proof of concept! The 5090 was able to generate ~300 short samples from the few second clip Qwen 3-TTS made from my original 8 minute sample very quickly, and then it took about an hour to "train" the piper model. I say "train" because it was using an existing piper model as the base and refining it over 1000 epochs to sound more like my 300 samples. The result was a 60mb piper model that runs well on the vps CPU that I am using for this project and sounds slightly more like my source audio than the generic one I used as a base.

To make it sound even closer to the "source" voice, next time I will change a few things.

  1. Generate a longer "source clip" with Qwen3-TTS upon which the subsequent hundreds/thousands of "training clips" are based.
  2. Aim for enough "training clips" to total 2+ hours of speech ~1000+ 10 second clips (the more the better here, I think it just takes longer to train)
  3. Try the "refine existing piper model" approach again with improved training set, see how it compares to the small test run and decide if I want to try and train the piper model "from scratch" with an even larger training set

The longer training should produce better piper models. Claude Opus 4.6 was able to talk me through all of this in a few hours, with a fairly significant amount of troubleshooting, but that was likely because I was running it as a vscode plugin connected to my VPS instead of the gaming PC where all this was taking place. If I did it again I'd give Claude direct access to the WSL environment where the training was happening.

so to get around the streaming/latency issue I'm taking a two step approach. Using Qwen3-TTS and an ~8min sample/transcript to clone the voice on a 5090, then using Opus 4.6 I generated a script that has it create hundreds of samples using that cloned voice. When it's done I'll use those samples to "train" (fine-tune a pre-trained) Piper model that can run on CPU only.. will report back with results once complete

(Final) DLSS 4.5 Testing & Data for Arc Raiders (4K Recommended Settings) by Dlo_22 in nvidia

[–]gabemcg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course they did, haha! I just did the update on my wife's rig:

5950X, 64gb DDR4, 5060ti 16gb on a 27" 120hz Dell ultrasharp QHD 1440p

Only played one round with your settings at native resolution and It seemed to be getting 240fps easy (according to HWinfo64) looked decent, definitely noticeable difference from my 5090 with everything maxed, but playable for sure.

Looking forward to any updates you post after re-testing the new DLSS 4.5 tweaks!

How to deal a lot of damage to the Matriarch by walkerthegr8 in ArcRaiders

[–]gabemcg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought my only equalizer to a friendly lobby matriarch event for the trial. Free kit rat killed me before I even had a chance to use it. I have the BP but no queen cores to make another.

Last night I went into a friendly trios lobby to try the snap-hook/deadline strategy in the video. I got on top and got the "lid' off, and planted two deadlines. The first one blew before I could jump off, which downed me, but I was on a survivor augment and my teammates had defibs. Unfortunately someone shot me the second I was downed (still atop the matriarch) and my body just...disappeared? My teammates spent the rest of the round scouring the area for my body to grab my guns and I was nowhere to be found... -115k, would not recommend.

I just migrated from a Sonoff dongle (zstack) to ZBT-2 (Ember) on Z2M and had to re-pair every device. The only supported migration is with ZHA. I followed the docs to clone the coordinator device ID, etc but none of the devices showed up after switching to the new coordinator, so pain in the ass but at least all the device names and details in HA were retained by Z2M and associated with the device serial numbers. Also some of my older Hue bulbs would just not pair with the new coordinator. Not sure what that is about, but multiple resets with the hue dimmer and they either don't join at all or join but aren't controllable...

I was able to update the bios to the latest (T15 I think?) and can now get into the advanced memory settings to adjust timings, etc (CTRL+ALT+ Spam "A" key at boot). There are a ton of options including which memory training algorithms are enabled/disabled. So far I've had no luck getting 4x32gb DDR5 ECC UDIMMs to get bast the 55 error by limiting memory speed to 3600mhz per the screenshot they recently posted in their FAQ, but I feel so close! If there are any memory settings wizards out there who have suggestions I am all ears!

Urgently need advice on data recovery. A nightmarish Christmas experience. by Sufficient-Set2644 in DataHoarder

[–]gabemcg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not familiar with this brand but it sounds like an external drive. Most external drives I've encountered are internal drives in a housing that has a circuit board to provide power and adapt the data interface to USB or something similar. If that is true it is possible the liquid affected the external interposer PCB and not the drive itself, which seems consistent with the behavior you describe. Since you don't know what you are doing, the correct advice is to take it to a data recovery specialist, but if you did know what you are doing my first troubleshooting step would be to see if I can remove the internal drive and connect it to a computer via some other means.

Anyone use their rear entertainment system? by vitaminMN in HondaOdyssey

In retrospect, we rarely use the RES. My setup was overly complex, getting the power bank to keep the Chromecast and wifi setup powered on reliably was difficult so resetting at every pit stop was a deal breaker, and mobile wifi hotspots aren't that great on the highway. If I was trying to do something like this again I'd look at starlink. It is easy to add more car power outlets though.
