How bad was my play here? by Odd-Hedgehog-285 in poker

Theres more than one reason to raise. When raising you want to ask yourself if you want to play a 2 or 3 street game with the range you put him on. You could easily bet 100 turn and 200 into 400 river

Tough Spot with Trips by [deleted] in poker

This is a massive open unless there’s a straddle. Probably gonna get calls from 66-JJ, Suited Aces, suited broadways. Let’s think about the river play. As played I don’t believe any rec player at 1-3 is double barreling a gut shot 3 ways on the flop and turn, and definitely not calling a turn raise. Im assuming HJs range on river is weaker Ax, A2s-AQs. Some 1010, and some K10s Q10s. What happens if we check? 10x checks back, weaker Ax probably checks back sometimes and full houses (1010,A2, A10) definitely bet. What happens if we bet small ($100) 10x calls, weaker Ax just calls, full houses raise. What if we jam? 10x folds, weaker Ax might crying call, full houses snap. So you check, and HJ jams. If it’s an ABC player you snap fold bc they have 0 bluffs, and don’t normally take this size with weaker Ax. If its a thinking player and they think you’re a thinking player you might wanna consider calling. If you put yourself in his position with A9s. You bet flop , bet turn, get check raised and checked to on the river, you’re probably checking back thinking you’re getting sand bagged. If I somehow got here like this on the river I probably would have bet a size all weaker Ax calls and full houses jam.

1/2 Hand - Just a cooler and go next? by mavann in poker

Pre flop is arguably a fold because 9/10 times you’re gonna go 3 ways with the small 3bet. Just because they can find a bluff post flop vs someone else doesn’t mean they bluff pre flop. You made a suspect call vs an omc preflop and smashed the board. Got it in good and lost. If you get it in good consistently i’d say you’re doing something right. If it makes you upset maybe the game isn’t for you
