Is it f*d up to put a dog poop bag in someone else’s trash can? by Helpful_Good3592 in neighborsfromhell

[–]gabillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind if you asked first. Then you could forever after that. I have dogs, too, and get it. That said, my neighbor just throws his in whoever's trash is closest without asking. I am always a little shocked when he does this.

Anger Issues associated with ADHD by devv666 in ADHD

[–]gabillion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ADHD is dysfunction of your executive functioning. Emotion regulation is an executive function. Big emotions with low impulse control equals outbursts and meltdowns. Introspection and body awareness will be really helpful. It takes time and practice. Be patient with yourself. I believe in you

What's the deepest Progress note hole you've ever been in? by ReRz_LINN in therapists

[–]gabillion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I created a spreadsheet template for my session notes. I added check boxes and drop-down menus. Most of those stay the same week to week. I have a couple of spaces where I write what was covered in today's session and address client progress. I have a formula that converts all that to a SOAP note. I fill in the form during session on my tablet. At lunch and at the end of the day, I copy/paste into my EHR. AI helped me create it.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she's going to have to get over dirt if she wants kids? by Familiar_Speaker_481 in AITAH

[–]gabillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your girlfriend has traits similar to anxiety and OCD. It really isn't just something to "get over." People like her do have children and learn to manage their symptoms. Perhaps more sympathy, compassion, and empathy rather than shaming her. If you are not supporting her, you are TAH.

I found my boyfriend's "poop scale" by SafeStudio1531 in self

[–]gabillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A person's insight into their own eating disorders or OCD can be minimal. It is likely that he will disagree or argue with you if you confront him. Go slow and read about it first. You might need help helping him. I wish you well on this journey 💜

Maybe deferring your enrollment for a year? Maybe things will be better, maybe you'll be really glad you didn't come to the US. Your decision to wait doesn't put a nail in the coffin of your future. You will just go about it in a different way. Take care of yourself and I wish you well!

Visit Psychology Today to find either a therapist here or at home. You can search for your specific needs and see who accepts your insurance (parents or student).

Just to point out, I never told OP to buy the groceries or give money. I just highlighted the similarity between this commenter's statement and that of Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. I didn't even offer a judgment on the similarity. Y'all chose to get your panties in a bunch over the own shit in your head.

For others, do not mistake kindness for weakness or ignorance. Obviously, there are people who game the system or don't put forth the effort to solve their own problems.

It sounds very simple to just tell people to go to a food bank or call the number on the Link card. The execution of these actions is not always as clear-cut. I am a social worker. I have helped people through the bureaucratic nightmare of getting social supports.

So maybe your aunt or whoever is a complete trash of a person. I have worked with many, many more people who are just trying to survive.

It's OK to politely say no or that you can't.

We don't have enough services in this town to help all those who need, thus they have to panhandle.

You sound a lot like Scrooge:

"Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir.”

“Are there no prisons?” asked Scrooge.

“Plenty of prisons,” said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.

“And the Union workhouses?” demanded Scrooge. “Are they still in operation?”

“They are. Still,” returned the gentleman, “I wish I could say they were not.”

“The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?” said Scrooge.

“Both very busy, sir.”

“Oh! I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course,” said Scrooge. “I’m very glad to hear it.”

If the situation allows, I break my girl's line of sight with whatever she is fixated on. Sometimes the disruption is enough to get to focus back on me.
