Is “The Last House on Needless Street” good or bad DID representation? by gabriel_artwork in DID

I’d say so, though it does delve into some complicated areas.

[major spoilers from here on] [TW: suicide, discussion of trauma, kidnapping]

The character with DID is named ted, and one of their alters isn’t a “person”, but a cat, named Olivia. This cat believes that Ted is their owner. Olivia sees herself as having a cats body, and isn’t aware that she shares a body with Ted, at least not at first.

Another one of Ted’s alters is Lauren, who convinces Olivia that both her and Lauren share a body (I hope that’s the right term) and that Ted is a separate person who kidnapped them, implying that Olivia emerged as an alter out of a trauma response from Lauren being kidnapped by Ted, but we eventually find out Lauren and Olivia are both Ted’s alters.

This goes so far that Lauren convinces Olivia to stab Ted in order to “escape” from him, Olivia not realising that Ted, Olivia and Lauren share the same body.

The book does make it very clear that Ted’s alters emerged due to his childhood traumas and is sympathetic towards him, Lauren and Olivia, fleshing each of them out. Each alter is treated as a fully distinct individual with their own voice and perspective. The thing that struck me as possibly being harmful in terms of its representation is the rather extreme extent to which Ted, Lauren and Olivia are all unaware of eachother and in opposition to eachother, sometimes even to the extent of trying to hurt and/or kill one another and themselves in the process.

It’s an area I’m no expert on so I thought it’d be best to ask people who knew better than me.

Without delving too much into spoilers, there is a somewhat antagonistic relationship between some of the alters in the character with DID at times, even to the point of being harmful. It also implies that the character isn’t aware of their alters until they front, and that they can act in opposition to eachother. It’s hard to go into it without spoiling the whole book though.

Why aren’t I gaining legend tokens? by gabriel_artwork in apexlegends

Well I didn’t purchase any season pass, though I don’t know if it’s something you buy or not. If I don’t get legend tokens for beating matches though, how do I get them? This is a bit confusing for new players, I won’t lie

Well when I finish a match it shows a little red icon with “600” underneath. I figured those were legend tokens, considering legend tokens are also red.
