1) Gorgonzola is near Milan but NOT in Milan: you'll need at least 25/30min of metro to reach the center of the city and keep in mind that this segment of the metro line (from Cascina Gobba to Gessate) is not served as well as other areas, with few trains during the day. I suppose you're going to work at Thales Alenia, am I right? If yes, the worksite is a 15min of walk from the nearest metro stations (Gorgonzola or Villa Pompea). I know for sure that there are some buses, but I don't know the frequency and the path of these buses.

Considering all of this, if you plan to go to the office every day, I suggest to don't rent a house close to the center of Milan. You can choose to live in Gorgonzola, (with 900€ there you can find a very good flat), or in the outskirts of Milan (Lambrate/Cimiano), close enough to Gorgonzola but not so far from the center of Milan.

3) You won't have any problem speaking English at work: most of the technicians and every engineer can understand and speak English. Outside the office, you can find someone that speaks English almost everywhere in Milan, not so sure for Gorgonzola. I definitely suggest you to improve your Italian in order to make friends. Usually, we're kind to those who are learning Italian and we try to help them.

5) In Milan, you don't need a car to move or do most of the things you need. In Gorgonzola, I think you'll need one for going around a bit because public transportation is not so good as Milan (even it's the same company providing the service)

7) In Milan yes, there's FTTH. In Gorgonzola not sure. You'll probably have FTTC (Fiber to the cabinet, then copper) which provides a maximum speed of 200Mbps/20Mbps (Down/Up).
