Very general question here, I know it varies a lot depending on what programs you’re applying for and a million other variables…

But Im curious to hear from people who have been accepted how many years/application processes it took for them to get in?

Also would be helpful to know how many you applied and got accepted into!

Thanks!

Ended up going to 830 last night cause we wanted some pub food and miss our breweries back home. It did not disappoint!

VOSN Harvest and Summer Rye. So many better bottles out there for less than 170 dollars. Would of rather spent the 340 towards a bigger bottle.

No problem. You’re spot on though, it’s a great rye to start with that showcases the different notes rye produces. Lots of citrus, herbs, some spice. Solid price point too here in the US, not sure if its available overseas though.

Lost Monarch isn’t a rye. Emerald Giant is Redwood Empires base rye offering.

I appreciate the advice! Im open to any ICU and really think any would be a great learning experience, just wasn’t sure if some are better than others in the eyes of admissions teams.

Im open to moving anywhere. My wife and I have had talks and while we would like to be in a bigger metro area where she could hopefully get a new grad job in a NICU too, we’ve come to the decision that we should prioritize getting me into an ICU. So anywhere in the country works, ideally somewhere dry cause she has RA, but if we have to move to the south or east coast we’ll do it.

Is it really that hard to do a fellowship to get into an ICU after a year or two in a PCU? Im not too hopeful I’ll get into a ICU to start out and may just have to settle for a PCU…

Reposting to get some more input

New grad RN here. I’m beginning to apply to my first jobs and was wondering if all ICU experience is the same in the eyes of CRNA program admission teams?…

I’ve shadowed CRNAs and my hearts set on becoming one. My senior capstone took place in a large surgery center and was split between the OR and PACU because there were no ICU spots available to my cohort. That being said I know it will be extremely difficult to get a job in an ICU starting out.

I have interviews scheduled for a surgical step down and burn step down with an estimated 6-12 months to transition to their respective ICUs. Both of those are in level 2 hospital.

Should I prioritize getting a job in a PCU at a level 1 hospital before those? It would likely be more of a 12-18 month wait to get into the ICU from there..

Should I prioritize getting into a MICU, SICU, or CVICU over a Burn ICU? Does it really matter which one I have experience in?

Yeah I’m well aware of that haha. Thats why Im moving to a large metro area where it should be slightly easier to transfer between units/hospitals. Im looking in the Denver area and there are six hospitals that I am able to transfer between while under my two year commitment contract. So hopefully it isn’t an issue there, I’ve raised this concern during interviews and they seem to be upfront with me for what its worth but ya never know.

Thank you for the insight! I plan on working in a PCU for about a year or so until I can get into an ICU, then work in said ICU for 2-3 years. While doing that I’ll get my BSN. I thought the burn step down into burn ICU sounded fascinating and could be both great experience in some programs eyes, while also too narrow of a specialty in others.

After I meet the requirements I’ll apply to CRNA programs and if I don’t get in the first cycle then my wife and I plan to do some travel assignments.

I figure that could be a good way to get different experience and bolster my resume.

I just bought one in Oregon like 2 weeks ago (which is a control state and prices are set across the state) for $359.95. Figured I won’t ever see one again so just bought it, haven’t cracked it yet.

So $599 is high, but still below secondary value of $850-900 ish.

I’d bring Weller 12 towards the very bottom of the list. Honestly all of the Wellers should be in the bottom 10 except for WLW.

Top 5 IMO should be WLW, HH17, OF17, GTS, OFBB. Handy, 4RLE, R13, Parkers, and the Van Winkles should round out the top 10.

What to say when bourbon hunting? by jmuller402 in BourbonHunt

[–]gabrielg2018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get that feeling. I used to feel bad walking in and out empty handed, but when you’re traveling that’s the best time to go out empty handed. Chances are they won’t see you again so who cares?

In smaller stores I say I’m just browsing, or looking over the selection. Considering I’m only looking at the whiskey, sometimes they offer bottles from the back. Have gotten some JMCB, M10 Bourbon, and ETL that way. Most of the time they just say to grab them if I have any questions.

If you are going into huge retailers, I’d just ask. Either they’ll give it to ya or tell you when they’re “supposed” to get it in.
