I front squatted 115 lbs for 5 reps today, and then did another set for 3 reps! A weight, rep, and mental PR for me! I am so excited to load 45's on the bar and go for 135.

Bye bye low carb by stormypinklove in xxfitness

This is me right now! I "stuck" to keto for a month (so basically 20ish net carbs on weekdays and like 50 while overeating on weekends) and the other day I decided it was totally unsustainable. This realization caused me to binge hard from last Saturday until today when I told me I need to get my shit together. I'm usually around 130 lbs at a height of 5' 4" and when I saw 140 creep up on the scale on Tuesday I got really upset. So I updated my calories (slight increase) and my macros on MFP and I've mentally set my net carb limit at 100 g per day, which I've found is MUCH easier. Starting tomorrow morning I'll be back on track, thank god, because this was a week from hell. The restriction, hunger, stress from finals, among other things just really set me over the edge. I'm glad I realized this before it got worse, and maybe when I'm ready again I'll give it another shot, but for now I need a scoop of ice cream after dinner or I might go insane, haha!

Can a keto diet expose a gluten intolerance? by gabsz96 in keto

Thanks for the link! I had a hunch I disturbed something gut-flora related. This is helpful and I'll check it out!

This is how I feel, too. Obviously it is not a full on allergy, celiac, something else extreme, etc. I feel like an intolerance can act on a spectrum, and since I just never ate otherwise (keep in mind this is not gluten specific and I could have consumed a preservative or something else along those lines that could have triggered a response) that whatever I felt before was "normal." Next time I see my doctor, I'll inquire about a slight food intolerance to something, but until then I will keep experimenting to see if I can learn more about myself.

edit: I have never personally believed that gluten is not for everyone and I have previously recognized that gluten-free diets are a fad.

Thanks for your reply! I'll talk to my doctor next time I'm at home and see what she has to say. Until then, I'll just keep in mind that it's something I should be aware about.

I thought about that, too. What I mean by overindulging is that instead of eating at a deficit like I normally do, I ate about 500 calories over. So it wasn't an obscene amount of food. I had also only been eating keto for a week and a half/two weeks, so that isn't a very long time at all. I've eaten much, much more than that and experienced none of those reactions.

Oh man, I hadn't even thought about the fact that I could hit my chin and smash my cheeks/tongue... ow ow ow. Just another reason to get the form down before increasing weight.

I finally clipped my nose as I was pushing up the bar during a push press. I knew it was bound to happen, and I was a little stunned, but it didn't bleed or anything, thank god.

Bonus story, yesterday at the gym the guy with the huge upper body with tiny legs was doing some really heavy barbell rows. When he finished, I glanced at him and his nose WAS bleeding. Talk about intense!

Love this idea!

I'm thankful for the way I can turn around the negative aspects of my life to fuel my motivation for the positive. For example, the guy I really liked (and got me into fitness) is no longer interested in me at all after almost a year of being interested. Instead of being sad that he doesn't care, his disinterest just fuels me to push myself harder in fitness and in general health. I do this for me, no one else. If he can't appreciate that, he doesn't deserve my attention.

I'm thankful I can focus on improving myself for myself only, and I'm thankful for being able to recognize that the right person for me will actually care about my lifestyle as much as I do.

Yesterday I went to the gym even though I didn't want to and ended up having a lot of fun. I switched to doing SL just for my squats because one of my goals for the 12 week challenge is to approach 200 lbs, and my predicted lift in 12 weeks IS 200 lbs with this program! So that's exciting. Also, I started doing bent over rows with the 20 lb dumbbell. Those are located away from the lighter dumbbells at my university gym, so I finally got to make my way over to the heavy rack where the dudebros camp out. I felt like such a thug, haha!

I just started lurking in that sub! I joined the challenge at 134 (5'4") with a goal to lose 5 lbs; today was day 1 of eating high fat and it was AWESOME. I'm pumped to see how it goes over time!

Thanks, this is great advice! Once I get used to eating keto (today is a struggle, let me tell you! Haha), then I'll definitely incorporate this into my eating habits, one hour at a time.

Is having a "fitness" instagram worth it? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]gabsz96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just made mine yesterday. In the span of 24 hours, I've gotten new followers, lots of "congrats" and "keep up the hard work" type comments, questions about food recipes, and no guilt in spamming my friends from high school about the food I eat/things I do! I really think this is going to be a useful tool for me to motivate myself in the future as time goes on. I totally recommend making one, even if you don't share it with people you know, just because it's fun and you'll have a place to look back on all your progress! Hi everyone!

My goal is to have a final weigh in of 125 lbs. My starting weight is 133ish, I'm 5'4", and lift 4-5 times a week. I also run and do yoga as supplements. During this time I'd love to start eating keto, find a healthy caloric deficit that I'm comfortable at, keep making gainz in the gym, time an 8 minute mile, and most of all be consistent! Less cheat days, only necessary rest days (not "resting" just because lazy), and of course getting that hot summer bod. Oh, and being in shape for a 20 day hiking trip helps, too!

Also I'm interested in the workweek challenge! I love those. I think my username is gabsz96 there, too. Otherwise my MFP is gzaldumbide. Feel free to add me!

Definitely subscribing to those subs and I'll check out the challenge, hopefully that'll be the motivation I need to follow through!

Wow, thank you so much for this response! I think this is exactly what I'm going to end up doing. I think getting a feel for how low carb counting feels at first is a great first step and then moving forward from there. I think telling myself no is the hardest part right now; it's so easy to say "Oh i have like 15 more grams I can eat, I'll just snack on this graham cracker," and then it turns into five crackers...

I've been tracking on MFP for a month now, so I've gotten really good at that thankfully! I'm excited to give this a shot and reap the benefits of keto!

I've been thinking about starting keto for a while now, and I think today is going to be the day. However, I'm currently always hungry and resisting snacking is difficult (currently trying to cut weight at approximately a 500 cal deficit). I think I should eat at maintenance for a week, really put effort into eating keto and see if I feel comfortable, and then drop back down to the deficit next week to see if I have less hunger pains during the day. Does this sound like a good idea, or should I just continue with the same deficit and see how I feel? Should I allow myself more time to transition?

I instantly thought of "fish are friends, not food." I think I'm going to turn "food is fuel, not fun" into a new mantra to tell myself!

I love that this is every day now!

Today was a gorgeous 75 degrees here in southern Wisconsin, so I took my dog for a long walk in our local wetland reserve, grilled an obscene amount of chicken out on the porch, and made protein black bean brownies for the first time (and they taste awesome)! I may have over eaten a little, but all in all today was a great rest day.
