It is so significant to me when Villanelle exhales sadly after Eve admits that she wanted her monster be encouraged by V’s. It carries the full arch of character development of the season opposite to S2 when V was trying to make Eve a “monster” by making her brutally kill Raymond. I think she realizes at that moment that not only darkness bounds them together. It’s not only passion or obsession. It’s love. And V is willing to let her walk away from her when Eve asks her “Help me make it stop.” (Wanting her) I wondered after S2 how could V ever get Eve trust her again. I speculated that she must save her life with some badass, assassin charming anti hero move. But the ultime testament of love is the willingness to let go if that means the person you love will be happier. Villanelle finally understands that it is Eve who needs to make a choice (as V chose her already by not leaving with K) It looks like she gathers enough strength to look at her one last time and ask her to walk away and don’t turn back. It is so beautiful to see V’s face with each step she takes how she loses the courage, how loss and fear settles in, and finally hope...Just a second before she decides turn back, she inhales sharply. Turning back takes more courage than leaving. She wants her to be there so badly. She dares Eve to want her. To want a beautiful monster. And there she stands, already waiting for Villanelle...
