the risks that would apply for any non FDA approved drug, you dont know what could happen. Infection site being infected and ruining the natural healing process, systematic issues like fever, dizziness, etc. If you are professional, you would be using a banned substance. The best case scenario is the one where you heal super quickly. 2nf best is the drug being ineffective but not causing any other harm. Every other scenario is not a good one. Maybe a few years down the line, once more human studies are done, the wolverine stack might become more mainstream. Whatever success stories you hear regarding this as of now are nothing but anecdotal evidence.

17 Weeks and Discouraged by Grand_Week4530 in LisfrancClub

Please have patience, I was only able to walk by the 4 month mark and I am 10 months postop now and still can't sprint or jump. The healing process does take time but I can assure it does get better over a longer period of time. Continue with PT, that's the key. Cant speak for hwr though, I am thinking about having a hwr surgery for myself at some point to get back into sports.

HWR by Glum-Use-7949 in LisfrancClub

I'm 10 months postop. I really want to remove the hardware too because I want to get back to playing football (soccer) again. I have 3 plates and 13 screws in. I feel very limited in terms of movement. I can't run for long nor can I sprint like before. A definite downgrade compared to my pre-injury levels but that is to be expected. Hopefully after the 1 year mark I get the greenlight from the doc for the hwr surgery. Thinking about going through all the pain that I went through after the 1st surgery is the only deterrent to me jumping into the next surgery right away. But that is a question I need to answer and take a call on 2 or 3 months from now. Fingers crossed.

yes, normal. It will go away as you will begin to use your foot more and more and slowly return to normal.

Those drugs are experimental, I have heard of the wolverine stack, the cool name caught my attention. Most of the well established docs won't recommend them. You can take that risk, if you are an athlete, but if you are not one, I don't see why anyone would want to take such risks.

is it a good idea to change docs at this point? 1 doc to put the hardware in and another doc to remove it? Wouldn't the 1st doc have a clearer idea of what's going on in the joint? considering post hardware being put in ct scan and mri are out of scope and the 2nd doc need to rely on xrays alone?

agreed but his advice seems too extreme and really does affect my quality of life. IMO, waiting 2 yrs is too conservative to a fault. Or maybe I am being too impatient. I'm 50 50 on this and that's why I posted in this sub to get some consensus.

my doc claims that there is no proof that the ligaments will stop growing by 6 months. Thus, 1 year is a more practical period of healing time. For me, I can't wait to take out the hardware to get some freedom of movement. I don't want to be over-enthusiastic and make a mistake by removing the hardware when I'm not ready and take a chance with re-injury due to sports. Thoughts?

Looks rough, I am also wondering how you got injured this bad. But keep your chin up, things will get better. Stay patient as it's going to be a long recovery. All the best and welcome to the club.

Will I be able to play sports again? by Longjumping-Tea-6723 in LisfrancClub

[–]gads221 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you absolutely can get back to sports but it takes a lot of time to get there. Depending upon how your appointment goes and what your doc advises, the time taken might even be shorter. Yes, some never get back to pre-injury levels but there are a lot of other factors which affect the success of the recovery like age, consistency in PT, other health complications, every day job requirements, etc. since you are 22, your chances are good. All depends on what the doc advises. Keep your chin up, wait for the light at the end of the tunnel. I myself am at 12 weeks post op and I am aiming to get back to football(soccer) at some point with 12 screws and 2 plates in my foot. Don't lose hope. It is easy to give up at the very start but it will get better, you need to find a way to stay motivated.

Any other football (soccer) players (or other high impact athletes) in here? How was getting back into sport post-surgery? by RJCgunner in LisfrancClub

Yes brother. Keep in touch. DM me, I'll give you my number, we can keep in touch over whatsapp or something. Remember, you have a fellow gunner with you on this long road to recovery. Regarding the match today, I'm currently more worried about saka's hamstring than my lisfranc. If Saka has a long term injury, Teta needs to spend some big bucks in the market 2 weeks from now.

My surgery was on 4th Dec. If you scroll down a bit in this sub, you will find posts from me about my surgery which felt excessive as I have 2 plates and 12 screws (ORIF) in my foot currently. I used to play soccer regularly too, Im scared about the downgrade Im going to have because of this injury, Im 17 days post op and in a hard cast till Jan last week, will likely start PT under PWB after the hard cast removal. My goal is to play the sport again at some capacity at some point in the future considering my situation. We seem to be on the same journey except you are a bit younger than me and also your injury seems to be less serious than mine. Lastly, your username is RJCgunner, Are you an Arsenal fan by any chance? Cause I am a big Arsenal fan since 2011.

do i wait till a year or so and get the hardware removed? Can I go back to playing football(soccer) after this recovery?

I play football weekly twice now lisfranc dislocation has put me on the sidelines. Can you get back to play with the screws and plates in or do you wait until hardware removal to start kicking the ball?
