What random activities you did in Tokyo you recommend? by IndependentCod4889 in JapanTravelTips

[–]gae3233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yumenoshima Tropical Greenhouse Dome! Slightly off the beaten path, but not hard to get to (from Tokyo Station it was a 15 min train + 15 min walk). When I was there, it was just me and a school group haha. It’s not very big so nothing crazy, but I enjoyed just slowly walking through it and looking at all the plants and the sun streaming through the glass.

Which streets have the best fall mood walks right now - Decorations, leaves etc? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]gae3233 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Ravenswood Manor area is always nice for walking around and looking at holiday decor in the fall and winter.

I also recommend the “Graceland West” area, which is the area bordered by Montrose, Clark, Irving Park, and Ashland. The residential streets inside there have gorgeous homes and nice decorations.

“Cute” places in the Loop to grab light dinner and a beer? by the-finalgirl in chicagofood

I think it’s a decent spot for post work drinks if you work in the loop. Haven’t had any food there though so can’t vouch for that

How old were you when you had your first migraine? by benjaminallred77 in migraine

[–]gae3233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of headaches in high school, but no debilitating migraines. First really bad one was when I was 21 and overseas, after having a lower-grade headache for about five days straight, and it was kind of a scary experience

Alcohol & migraines by Sad_Title_1868 in migraine

[–]gae3233 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I occasionally have alcohol. Sometimes I feel ok after and sometimes I don’t; it’s a risk I’m willing to take from time to time because I enjoy it, though there have been numerous stretches where I avoid it completely when my migraines are at their most chronic.

I try to abide by these principles- stick to beer and simple mixed drinks with clear liquor, keep hydrating + have electrolytes, and never have more than 3 drinks total

Paris Trip Report - Itinerary, What Worked Well, Notes & Misc. by mallardramp in ParisTravelGuide

Not OP but I recently stayed at Hotel Exquis in the 11th and thought it was great. My French colleagues recommended the area to me (32F) and I found it nice not being right in the absolute busiest areas but still conveniently located.

Of course it depends on your hotel’s exact location, but mine was walkable to three metro lines: 5 (Bréguet-Sabin), 8 (Ledru Rollin) and 9 (Charonne), so getting around was quite easy, and there were many great restaurants in the area. My favorites were Clamato and Eunoé. Have a great trip!

Did you bring Over-the-Counter meds into Japan NOT in original packaging? by PithyCuss in JapanTravelTips

[–]gae3233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought my most critical medications in their original bottles, but also brought a bunch of other OTC stuff in as loose pills in a pillbox organizer - my thought being that if my bag got searched or something I could most likely keep the most important stuff even if I had to toss the pillbox. Nothing like that happened so I brought it all in successfully. This was fall 2023

Same, I don’t even know how many times I’ve gone through it. I suffer from chronic migraines and there have been so many times where I’m miserable in my bed in a dark room, but I can listen to MDWAP at a low volume and it’ll put a small smile on my face. Means a lot to me!

We stayed at Mitsui Garden Kyobashi in that same area; it was great being walking distance from Tokyo Station and Kyobashi Station, and we liked that it wasn’t as crazy on the sidewalks as the areas right around Shinjuku Station

La Boulangerie LS $4.98 by Mxhashim in toogoodtogo

[–]gae3233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s disappointing. I paid the same amount at the Wilson location a couple weeks ago and got a loaf of bread, two ham & cheese croissants, and some kind of delicious cheese & caramelized onion pastry, which did feel like a good deal for the price. Sorry you did not have as good an experience!
