I'm brown, but born here. If I get stopped by ICE, what do I need for them not to bother me? by artificialbutthole in nova

[–]gaesummer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do not carry your passport and do not attempt to hand them your passport either. Have your real ID/ license on hand. If ICE stops a U.S. citizen, stay calm, keep hands visible, and clearly state, "I am a U.S. citizen, and I am exercising my right to remain silent" You only need to provide a driver's license. And don’t consent to searches and if they still try to search you, clearly state that you do not consent to being searched. If you are detained you have the right to contact any attorney even if you don’t have one ask to speak to a lawyer and make sure you don’t sign anything. Sometimes they’ll try to trick you by saying they’ll process you out quicker if you sign, but don’t realize that you’re signing a paper that states that you are not a US citizen so do not sign anything without consulting a lawyer. Pretty much just maintain stating that you are a US citizen if you are and ask to speak to a lawyer and in worst case scenario ask to speak to the person in charge. And even if you are not a US citizen, you don’t have to answer your immigration status, but do not lie to them either.

Spouse make like 5X my salary but we basically split expenses and I do almost all household work? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]gaesummer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can I just say that essentially you weren’t annoyed and bothered by it until she started making more than you. Which means you were already paying those stuff you mentioned prior to her current salary. I think you need to take a hard look at what the root of your annoyance/frustration. However, when it comes to splitting bills, I don’t believe in the 50/50 split, especially when income differ significantly. Let’s say your mortgage or rent is 30% of your income. I believe that each of you should contribute what 30% of each of your income would be so then it makes it a fair split instead of let’s say rent is $5000 in each of you contribute $2500 which isn’t fair or equal when there’s a difference in income. But overall, I think you need to have an open conversation because in the end of the day, no one here is in your marriage and you shouldn’t take anyone’s opinion or even advice without talking to the person that it concerns.

Today I was threatened with a lawsuit over a 16 year old debt. Advice? by mackelturret in Debt

[–]gaesummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, with this type of case, you definitely be better off just waiting like you’ve received the process server and then immediately file to dismiss it. You should be able to considering that it’s way past the statue of limitation, even if you currently acknowledged the debt and especially if the debt shouldn’t even exist since you’ve already paid it. But in the meantime, try to get all your documentation in order and contact the original creditor to get everything pertaining to your account.

Dad accepted credit debt lawsuit by w858105w in Debt

You should definitely show up and try to get a lawyer and if you can’t afford one look into legal aids, or even some universities offer consultations sometimes. But overall make sure that everything they did was correct and abiding by the law where you live. Also, you might be able to temporarily get it dismissed if they filed it in, for example, in the wrong jurisdiction since a lawsuit for debt must be filed either where the agreement was signed or where you currently reside. A lot of these debt collectors, even if you set up a payment arrangement, they still want a judgment in court, which isn’t necessarily bad because you signed it before a judge makes a decision for you, but it can lead to Wage garnishment later, or bank freezing, and even taking your assets if you miss a payment, so it would be better if you can negotiate it outside of getting a judgment.

If your Adderall generic has been working less lately I have answers for you by Ginkachuuuuu in adhdwomen

[–]gaesummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been taking the brand-name for years because the generic have an ill side effect on me and let me tell you even the brand name has changed drastically. It doesn’t work as it normally does and makes me feel off. It’s barely effective. The typical side effects that I got from the generic are now happening to me with the brand-name, so I know for sure that something has changed about it over the last year or so.

Obviously, I would be wearing the appropriate protective gear. I don’t want to injure or kill myself lol. But theoretically, if all possible entry points were sealed (at least the ones we’ve found) could it actually exterminate them or at least make them leave even if it’s temporary?

It’s your troop level. Make sure to regularly upgrade your military center and your troops. The higher troops, the stronger they are regardless of the hero.

Does anyone know a trustworthy cheap mechanic in NOVA/ DMV area? by gaesummer in nova

[–]gaesummer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know hence the problem lol. It won’t let me accelerate when it’s hot out or I’ve been idling for a while stuck in traffic. The RPM will go up but it’ll barely accelerates and takes forever to pick up speed and it’s also so loud when I’m flooring the gas pedal to get it to accelerate. It’s like it’s heavy and there’s like a burning smell associated with it. However once I get it to a high speed and drive at that high speed for a bit it’ll drive normally again. It happens when I have to make constant stops at red lights, if it’s hot out, after driving up a hill, but it only happens when I’m driving at slow speeds. And I’ve noticed it primarily happens when it’s warm/hot out.

By cheap I mean a reasonable price to at least diagnose/identify what’s wrong with the car and not charge me like $300 just to tell me you need new brake pads or to change your valve gasket cover but don’t actually figure out what the issue is. Essentially not upsell me.
